My husband and I have been visiting the Au Petit Paris Restaurant in Frostburg, MD since the late 1960's. The meals are always consistent and the escargots are absolutely the best we have ever tasted. The serving portions are generous and the meals are always a treat to the tastebuds! The atmosphere is like a distingusihed establishment in Paris- Mrs St. Marie is a delight- full of energy and personality. We love the service and personal attention that we receive. We enjoy taking friends to an evening of delightful dining.

We were staying in the area overnight. My husband surprised me by making reservations at Au Petit Paris in Frostburg for my birthday. We ordered the caesar salad, the house specialty. It was the best we'd had in years with a house dressing. Not the bottled stuff. I had the frog legs and they were outstanding with coucous and crisp veggies. My husband had a special seafood dish not on the menu, recommended by the hostess, one of the owners. With red potatoes and veggies. Very good, he said. The crepe suzettes, prepared of course, at our table capped a great evening. We couldn't believe such a special restaurant existed in the region. Easy to find on Main Street. - Sarah S.

We did not have reservations and they still were able to seat us. We thought that was a very good sign. However in the first dining room where we were seated the decor was garish. Old menus were just tacked to the wall and it was just too busy with decorations. It was recommended by the chef's wife, the hostess, that I try the escargot which I did. They were swimming in butter only slightly seasoned with garlic and parsley. The other diner in the party had the pate which he enjoyed very much. It was served with the typical capers, onions and pickles with toast points. The serving was ample and flavorful. I ordered the evening chicken special which was chicken breast grilled and served with a Mornay sauce with fresh sauteed mushrooms. The chicken was on the dry side and the Mornay sauce was so thick it reminded me of the gravy served with country-fried steak but was less flavorful. The sauce was heavy on the flour and there was not even a hint of cheese. The vegetable medley was clearly frozen -- very disappointing. The other side dish was scalloped potatoes. The potatoes were undercooked and the seasonings and cheese were only on top not throughout. My dining partner had the tournedoes which he ordered medium. They were overcooked and the sauce, again, resembled a gravy. I would have been more satisified had I eaten at Bob Evans for two-thirds of the price I paid for this meal.
