This was once a wonderful German restaurant and gift shop. Now it's just barely a bar with a one page menu serving hot dogs and microwavable bar food. I hope the new owners bring it back to the glory it once had. I will keep checking to see if they improve. But I wouldn't recommend this to any one right now.

This restaurant used to serve authentic German food which was reasonably priced and delicious. That is no longer the case. The last time we dined here the food was not very good, the portions were smaller, and the prices were increased. In addition, the service was terrible. We waited 15 + minutes to be asked if we wanted beverages. When my father told the wait staff that his noodles were cold, she scooped them onto his bread plate and took them to the kitchen to be microwaved. Very unprofessional. What was supposed to be a celebration turned into a fiasco. We will enver frequent this restaurant again.

My family and I celebrated many birthdays here over 20+ years. We always looked forward to sharing a great dinner with an incredible Black Forest Cake for dessert while enjoying the live accordion music. Our recent dining experience proved to be less than satisfactory. The dining room had a 2 piece band in the center of the room playing so loudly we could not hear each other speak. When I made my reservation, I made it on a particular Saturday because I was told the accordion player would be there that weekend. The wait staff and chef were self-admittedly overwhelmed by the work load of a half-full dining room. The weekend special appetizer was sold out on Friday (we were there Saturday). My guess is our waiter was really a bartender who was filling in for a waiter who called out sick. Overall, it felt like we were eating in a tavern. Gone is that special traditional German experience we saved for our special occassions.
(and the leftover birthday cake we had for dessert was sent home with us simply slid into a liquor box - no plastic wrap over it - just a cake in a liquor box.
It's as if the owners never owned a restaurant before or dined in a restauruant before. We will never return.

When my husband and I returned from Germany in 1969 we searched the area for an authentic Germany restaurant. We have been visiting the Alpenhof ever since. 37 years!

This was a good experience for me to have. I liked the German food, and I think everyone I went with did also. I would recomend this for anyone interested! The service was also GREAT, you'll see what I mean if you go there...
