Description:
The Pizza Master Pizzaiolo Walter Engel runs pizza operations at Coal Mine Pizza in Boca Raton, Florida. Using the coal oven produces many of South Florida’s best pizza pies. In the style of NY’s pizza dynasties (Lombardy’s 1906, John’s of Bleeker Street 1926, and Totono’s 1924) Walter Engel’s pies are thin, crispy, and crunchy, charred to perfection and served piping hot from the near 1000 degree Fahrenheit inferno. The high temperature allows quick cooking leaving our sauce and cheese in perfect condition, no “orange oils” dripping from the pizza like ordinary pizza. The winner of 2008 Palm Beach Illustrated A-List, 2008 Best of Boca Raton Magazine Thin Crust Pizza and Family Dining, 2008 Pizza Today “Places that Rock”, three Best of 2007 awards from Boca Raton Magazine, New Times of Broward and Palm Beach Counties and City link Readers’ Choice of South Florida, this pizza production team sets the standard for South Florida. Imported 00 Flour from Italy, flavorful tomatoes and just made mozzarella are used making the pies the most delicious in South Florida. Coal from the mines of Pennsylvania produces the heat for the crunch and unique charcoal flavor of the crust. It is no surprise that Owner Gary Rack has challenged Walter to prepare his pizza production team for the World Pizza Championships in Salsomaggoire, Italy in 2010. Owners Gary and Videl Rack expect Walter and his team to bring home the gold for the USA and Florida! Tony Gemignani, the world’s greatest pizza maker and acrobat will visit Coal Mine Pizza November 7 and 8, 2008 for two amazing days of pizza and family fun! PIZZA LOVERS DO NOT MISS THIS AMAZING EVENT!! The Food First tastes are exciting and bursting with unique flavors. Balsamic vinegar and soy sauce marinated chicken wings are roasted in the coal oven yielding a tender and delicious treat. These wings are a new “Sunday” football game tradition. While your pie is being handcrafted, enjoy Coal Mine Calamari, Dynamite Shrimp, Giant Meatball like Mom used to make or Hand cut Parmesan Truffle Fries. All are absolute winners. Our salads are always made with the freshest local tomatoes, our own handcrafted dressings and are offered with grilled chicken, calamari, or shrimp to make any salad a meal. The salads are bursting with fresh flavors and all dressings are made using no trans-fat oils. Our dressings and sauces are available in pint jars to take home.
