The Guzman's represent what America has meant to many generations and their families. Martin and Lupe are both immigrants from Mexico. Each came to America with a dream, each worked many hours to succeed. Each kept the dream alive with hope, desire and faith. Martin and Lupe Guzman have owned the successful Super Taco Restaurant for over twenty years providing their excellent food to the residents of Pittsburg and beyond. Their dream El Matador, became reality because of their dedication and the support of their many customers who also believe in them.

Lupe Guzman opened the first "Super Taco" in 1985 in the City of Pittsburg. The restaurant was located in an area known for its high crime rates. The restaurant succeeded despite the odds due to the persistence of Lupe, her food and her willingness to be part of the solution not a part of the problem. Many of you here supported those early days and Lupe and Martin are very thankful for your long time support.

Prior to the opening of Super Taco, Lupe worked for Chico's Mexican Restaurant and the New Mecca Café while Martin developed his skills at the Copper Skillet Restaurant. One always enjoys a person's story when it starts in a community and expands in that community as well. Martin and Lupe in the true tradition of Pittsburg have stayed loyal to the community that has been loyal to them. Martin and Lupe's children have grown up in the restaurant business and are now successful as well in their chosen professions. The Guzman's are a success story and I ask you to recognize their investment in Pittsburg and welcome El Matador to our community.
