When I walked into 23 Buffet for the first time, I was greeted at the door by the manager Jack. He charged me $8.99 for the luncheon buffet and a poite young asian waitress showed me to my table. She promptly bought my drink, extra napkins and even bought me a steak knife when I needed one. The buffet included New York Cheescake - my favorite, fresh sushi, shrimp, crab, calamari, and several varieties of fresh flounder fried and saute'd. How they can provide this quality of food AND all you can eat! for $8.99 is incredible. I urge you to give it a try. You will not be disappointed.
We went to Route 23 Buffet in Pompton Plains for my cousin's birthday. She wanted crab legs so we paid $34 extra above the 12.95 per person for a buffet not worth giving it away. The food was cheap and terrible, an embarrassment to put it mildly. The service was poor and the cashier was miserable. The waitress did not speak English and could not communicate with you. When we went to leave and wanted to take the crab legs that were brought to our table from the kitchen,NOt on the buffet, home (we paid $34 extra for them) we were told we could not take them unless paid again for take out. We tried to explain they were ours we already paid for them and they were not part of the buffet! The miserable cashier became belligerent and said we could not take them even though they were delivered to us. They obviously wanted to take them from the table and resell and recycle them! I feed my dog better food! You should never be in business treating people like that and ripping people off like that! The experience was terrible, my cousin was humiliated!
Plaza 23 has a great recession buster! 9.95 dinners we had soup salad bar entree and dessert!! for 9.95 great value good food!!! We had a delicious smoothie too. Our waitress Penelope was friendly and efficient.
The place is always clean, the food is always fresh and tasty.
It is a very comfortable place to bring the family because they have something for everyone.
The ambience is very warm and inviting. The food is very tasty and always fresh. The portions are very generous and the prices are very affordable. This is my favorite of all in northern New Jersey, without a doubt.

It took me a few trips to confirm, but Buffet 23 has consistently good to very good food. Outstanding for a ‘Buffet’. Add to that, surprisingly good sushi and a good time is had by all. The variety of food is extensive and far exceeds the typical local buffet. By nature, in a ‘buffet’ style restaurant , service is typically minimal, however here again Buffett 23 makes the experience outstanding with a smiling and attentive wait staff that’s always on top of their game, keeping your drinks full and plates clear . Very good food (variety, variety ,variety…), good staff and excellent price combine to make a great dining experience, a hard to top value. I now always bring a bottle of wine (BYOB…nice)(yes the even have wine glasses), eat to much and have a great meal.
