Ask your insurance rep if they will rtuern the prorated difference. If they won't, then you have the option of getting a new policy and cancelling your old one. Then the old insurer will be obligated to provide you a check for the unused portion of the old policy.Consider, however, that insurance companies often give discounts for longevity with a single company. So it might not be worth changing policies unless it is with the same company.
