I have been eating here since mid 1960's when it first opened up as Vic's Market then expanded when El Abajeno opened as the restaurant next door. Yes! There is a security guard outside, but don't misunderstand that! The security guard is to keep the small parking lot from being used by patrons of the other nearby stores. The atmosphere is authentic, the people friendly and bi-lingual.
This is cafeteria style, where you have steam tables and the food is prepared in front of you as you select what you want and walk along the display. Glass partitions lets you see what you want, and point to your selection. No small window on a wall with the food prepared hidden in another room. Move your tray along and ask for the rice drink called...

I have been a fan of this restaurant since it began business at the current location, as well as when it was directly across the street. Great service - great food.
Food was great , service was great and the ambience was great. I felt the restaurant was a bit dirty and was not kid friendly one bit. My over all experience was a solid 3.
