We got to the GCR around 520pm, there were 4 other couples seated and eating as we walked in. We were greeted by ALL the wait staff as we or they walked by. I saw 7 employees working during our stay, that's very good for the 25?? tables they have.
The wife ordered Almond chicken dinner with brown rice, I ordered Spicy Mandarin beef dinner with brown rice. We were served our HOT soup first, the wife got Won Ton and I got the Hot and Sour soup which was delicious. The egg rolls were a little bland for my liking, but I like spicy food.
The food came quickly and man was there a LOT of it. If the wife liked spicy food we could easily get by sharing ONE dinner. But.. we ended up bring home over half of each dinner.
I added some fried rice home with the dinner and I will order that next time.
I could see the front door in the mirror from my seat and I saw 30-40 take-out orders leaving during the hour we were there.
We left around 615pm and by that time the restaurant was 99% FULL with families and couples.
I paid the 26$ bill, left a decent tip for the GOOD service and we WILL go back.

Excellent choice of entrees. I appreciate the Heart Smart menus. Everyone is always so friendly and service is quick. The food is tasty and plentiful. Excellent value.

Always had great food. Wonderful friendly ambience. The staff is very accommodating and someone always greets you when you come in the door. Carry out has always been great and fast also. I personally have not had a bad experience here in the 4 years of supporting this wonderful east side establishment. Huge variety of menu items and prices. Great combo plates.

Golden Chopsticks has a GREAT reputation which they no longer deserve.
The Pu Pu platter ($11.95) consisted of tasteless and doughy breaded shrimp, Bar B Q ribs WEEKS old (really disgusting) Spring Rolls so hard they were inedible and flotsam and jetsam retreived from other platters. The meats were so old and tasteless that they almost meowed.
The Shanghai-Style Dumplings were all meat, so-so at best, not very sweet.
The Triple Meat, Triple Mushrooms had Chicken so old it tasted bad, pork so hidden I am not sure it was there and shrimp with the crusty hide still on, straight from Peel and Eat Hell.
The WORST Forty Dollar Meal of the year. Bar none.
The place shows how desperate eastsiders are to eat Chinese. Try Moy's or China Moon.
