One of the few Steak shops in the Philla. area that still give you a "Classic" cheese steak. They did change to a softer roll which took away from the sandwich, but it is still a great sandwich.

I don’t understand what has happened to this place within the last 2 years or so. I ordered & picked it up, got it home to find that it was incorrect. I then called them to let them know about it and went to pick it up again - again when it got home it was incorrect. They sent out a driver to bring it to me again and when I opened it again it was wrong. I then called them and told them that it was incorrect - the response? Let me give you a full credit for the next time that you come in. THE NEXT TIME??? WHAT NEXT TIME? So then I took my receipt, my card and the 3rd wrong order and went down there so that they could credit my card - when I got there and told them who I was - they told me that they could just void the whole order, (why they didn’t just do that to begin with - I don’t know - because it just irritated me more that I went down there to get my card credited. They could’ve just saved me the trip and not irritated me further than what I already was - because now - I will never go there again. There’s a great place right down the street that I should’ve went to to begin with.

The steaks and subs at Claymont are absolutely the best you will ever eat. They stuff each and every sandwich with the freshest meats, cheeses, and condiments. The rolls come from a small Chester bakery, and they are fresh every day. The laargest cheesesteak will feed two people a great meal. The place is a little dingy inside, and they do not deliver, but that is unimportant. Simply THE BEST.ANYWHERE.

The best cheese steak and pizza we have ever eaten! They were too big to finish.

When I want a cheesesteak there is no place else to go. Only Pat's in Philly can come close. They have the best cheesesteaks, the best people, and the atmosphere is one I will always associate with cheesesteaks on the way to Philly sports events. I wouldn't have any other way, three words come to mind: Simply the Best.

Claymont steaks makes the best cheese steaks available. They are generous with their meat, they use the best meat, the best rolls and fresh toppings. All of there hoagies are loaded with meat. I have tried many other similar establishments across the country, none compares. I agree with the other reviewer who said the place could be cleaner but take it home and forget about ambiance. The staff really busts ass in there. You can go in there at pretty much anytime of day and see gobs and gobs of beautiful steak on the grill with the aroma of fried onions permeating the air. It's beautiful. My chief complaint is they don't deliver and are not open longer hours. This is one great business. I've been enjoying them for over 25 years now.

Best cheese steak, possibly anywhere. It's a little dirty inside, but you'll get over that once you scarf down one of these big ass steaks. The staff have their work cut out for themselves: This place is busy.
Great cheesesteaks. Take it home. Don't be a jerk; A cheesesteak SHOULD NEVER HAVE LETTUCE ON IT. Don't ask for swiss cheese or anything stupid like that. You want a gourmet steak? Go to Delmonico's. You want a great cheesesteak? Go to the Claymont Steak Shop.
