We had our reception at the White Horse, and it was great. It was a large, banquet-style event (obviously), so we knew that the food would not be as good as it is when we order it off of the menu in the restaurant (and it wasn't). However, both the service and food were far superior to that of any other large banquet-type event that I have been to. As for the space, it couldn't have been better. We had around 110 people, and it had a lovely, intimate feel, while at the same time allowing enough room for dancing. It was quite charming. There were some minor mishaps that were caused by poor communication between the manager and staff, but everyone makes mistakes, and I would still definitely recommend it overall.

Unbelievable. I was looking forward to a wonderful wedding reception, based on the White Horse's reputation. To call our experience extremely disappointing does not begin to capture how bad the White Horse Inn has become.

Guests were packed in, shoulder-to-shoulder. Some tables had to remove seats (fortunately not everybody showed up), just to physically fit. Apparently the WHI has extreme myopia when in comes to making promises of space.

Beverage service was barely existent, as every water glass emptied without a refill to be found, and the minerature coffee cups received one pouring each.

The beverage service and seating was acceptable when compared to the food. The lowlight was the mixed vegetables. It was fairly obvious that they were just poured out of a frozen package, as ice crystals were still visible on the solidly frozen vegetables. For this the bride and groom's family paid an excessive premium? Frozen food that WHI couldn't be bothered to even thaw?

Apparently, the White Horse Inn is not merely coasting on repuration, but laughing at just how badly they can treat Madison patrons. Even McDonalds always heats frozen "food" before serving.
