My family took our Mother here Saturday, 5/10 to celebrate Mother's Day. Right away the tone was set - as we entered & were standing at the hostess station what we thought was a customer came in behind us and exclaimed to the hostess "Well, aren't you going to seat these people?" Turns out she was our waitress who was clearly exasperated & just coming in to work her shift. We were shown to a table in the dining room past the counter. We didn't have to wait too long before this same waitress came to take our order. It was obvious that she was not having a good day although she did attempt to keep her sense of humor & forge ahead even though she was being challenged. My sister ordered a chicken ceasar salad with 3 eggs sliced & tomatoes chopped up. (my sis is famous for ordering salads like Meg Ryan orders sandwiches in "When Harry met Sally"!) The waitress was patient & even remembered taking an order from my sis on a previous visit & we thought we were good to go. After waiting for nearly 1/2 hr our food arrived. The food was not hot enough & my sister's salad, which had too much dressing on it, was minus the chicken, which came 10 mins later. When the waitress presented the ticket to us with the charges for 3 out of the 5 meals on it I was shocked to see we were charged $1.99 for 2 eggs and the 3rd egg was $1.79! We didn't notice the price on the menue nor was it brought to our attention & should have been I thought. After the fiasco with having to wait for 1/2 for our food then my sister not getting her full salad ordered the way she wanted it I would have thought that some if not all of her meal would have been taken care of by the restaurant. Afterall, the restaurant didn't appear to be busy from what we could tell. We did surmise however the kitchen was having trouble. When I got to the register I asked to speak to either the manager or the owner at which point I was told by the hostess they were both out - together. When I asked who was in charge in their absence the hostess replied "No one." About this time I asked to speak to the waitress who then came out from no where and spoke to my sister who ordered the salad. She should have been speaking to me as I was the one who was paying the ticket & had requested to speak to someone in charge. Instead she got next to my sister to explain the cost of the eggs. When I approached to inquire about either taking the charge of the salad off or a discount as my sister was not satisfied with her meal nor was the rest of my family happy about our dining experience, she informed me she didn't have the authority to do so. Suffice to say at this point I was resolved to pay and get the heck out of there. What really bothers me is not paying for our meal but the total lack of customer service on a day that we were celebrating Mother's Day as a family. After paying I asked the hostess for the name & contact # for the owner. This young women did give it to me but clearly didn't want to plus I got "attitude" with my request. I called Sunday, Mother's Day only to be told that the owner was slammed & couldn't come to the phone. I told Jessica, who answered that I understood but to please take down my name & phone # as I wanted to speak to her about our dining experience of the day before. Again, I believe Jessica, who was answering the phone, was rude & also had attitude while taking down my info. Well, it is Monday @ 12:45pm & guess what? Still no call back from the owner or manager of the Village. It's unfortunate as we have been here several times over the years & have had fairly decent food but we may never come back again after being treated the way we were. Shame on the owner & manager to leave without having trained, professional, pleasant staff to greet and serve patrons. I'm truly disappointed...
