I will have to completely agree with the other two start rating.
Yes the service is really nice and the atmosphere is beautiful, but that's exactly what you end up paying for (and keep in mind there's quite a range). Their food is no better than the traditional extremely generalized 5-minute-American-Oriental dining place.
There are many better legitimate places to get many of their dishes. Their Pad Thai is not Pad Thai, just clear noodles (fail!), some veggies, some meat, and salt. Their egg rolls are quite plain (cabbage and wrap deep fried). I must admit their sushi is great if you're willing to lose a limb.
Go to Pad Thai (about 8 minutes away) for legitimate pad thai. Go to Egg Roll plus (2 minutes from Pad Thai!) for legitimate fried rice and other Oriental foods. Go to Festival Foods for legitimate Sushi by AFC made fresh daily.
As with many places, don't be fooled by the surroundings. The food says everything. You may have fooled many people in Eau Claire (especially young adults who go to eat sushi to brag about eating expensive sushi later), but you haven't fooled me Shanghai Bistro. I'll see everyone else at the other places.

the nice people and fun atmosphere cant even start to make up for a complete lack of taste in their unappealing food. The prices on the average dinner meal range from arm and leg to outrageous. it is one of very few places to eat sushi in town so beware of other people giving this shack a good rating. this also means it will be filled with hipsters pretending to be trendy most of the time. grade: D-

A sushi Oasis in the heart of the Midwest! Henry has the best fresh sushi (cut fresh in the kitchen), a great selection of Japanese, Chinese, and Thai food at great prices on all of the entree's and you will not leave hungry! Do yourself a favor and have a "Pink Panther" martini, leechy nuts and all.

Excellent wait staff-you'll see! Go between 11:AM and 3:PM Mon.thru Fri. and order off the $4.00 to $6.00 combo plate selection. Our Favorites: Chicken,Snowpeas&Broccoli or Strange Flavor Chicken(hot) which includes soup and fry bread. Good deal-sit outside on a nice day. Only complaint: Last time there (Aug. 2008) womens restroom had a bad smell.

Food was good, but service was bad. Lady in the back cooking the food was yelling at her employees in front of customers...and when I say yelling....I mean YELLING!!

A complete embarassment to chinese food, we ordered fried rice and they gave us white rice doused in soy sauce, the empress chicken was far from spicy and was flaky and really had a gross appearence and taste.
We just moved to the area and will ne...
