My son and I stopped here for a late lunch one Saturday, and were pleasantly surprised. I had their Swiss burger, which had a perfectly done burger patty, a nice, thick, slice of real Swiss cheese, perfectly sautéed mushrooms, and fresh lettuce leaf and red tomato. The bun had been lightly toasted and there were ketchup and mustard handy. One delicious burger! When I go back I'll be afraid to try anything else, because the burger was so good. There were lots of homemade fries made from actual potatoes.
My son had a grilled ham and cheese, and said it was very good. He also had their homemade potato chips (that's right! Hot homemade potato chips!), some which I stole from his plate. They were good stuff! He also had a chocolate shake, which came in a large glass, which he said was also good (it vanished).
Total cost with drinks but not counting the tip, $18.86.
Our server was very attentive and friendly. She treated my 14 year old son like a grown-up, which he really appreciated.
The décor looks like it's maybe 70's vintage, but it's hard to tell. There are original paintings on the walls, which is way cool. Some of the booth seats could use re-upholstering, but the place is very clean. The ambiance (how it feels) is like a friend's house. Very warm and friendly. A great place to relax and enjoy some good food.
We will be back! Delta is 88 miles from here, but it's a nice ride in decent weather and a nice drive otherwise.
I wish every city had a place like the Rancher Cafe!
