After seeing this suggested in Southern Living magazine Sept '08 we decided to visit Peninsula Grill for dinner while on our vacation to Charleston. The ambiance was upscale but not pretentious. We dined in the outdoor courtyard. The server and hostess' were kind and courteous and not the least bit stuffy. I had the special of a pan seared grouper with sucotash and greenbeans covered in a wonderful seafood flavored gravy. It's not called gravy but I can't remember it's fancy name, lol. I also order the goat cheese mashed potatoes and they were very tasty. I really enjoyed my meal and basically licked the plate clean. My husband had the twin Maine lobster tails. They were good but not as good as it should be for $36.50 per pound. I've had much better for less in my travels to popular seafood destinations such as Fort Lauderdale and even the nationwide chain BoneFish Grill serves a better tasting lobster. This was the only down fall in the evening. We finished off with their signature dessert of Coconut Cake and also an ice cream and cookie dessert plate. Both were very good. The cookies were pretty tiny and that was too bad because they were so good you could easily eat more of them. Anyhow, we highly recommend this restaurant and can see why it has been garnished with so many accolades (as displayed on the walls). If you are in Charleston and you have some $$$ to spend, then head to this restaurant and have one of the best dinners you'll ever enjoy.
