Restaurant Description
Fuji of Japan , Darien, has the reputation for providing patrons with an exceptional and authentic Japanese dining experience at affordable prices. The restaurant has more than a twenty years tradition of setting dining trends and providing exceptional service.Fuji always use the freshest and best quality indigents, so food cost alway run high, we buy fresh fish directly from nearby local Japanese importers. We buy fresh tuna ,salmon which was caught few hours ago at Harbor Fish Market.
Fuji of Japan was founded on the tradition of "true" Japanese hibachi steak house, a concept that introduced America to the cooking art form known as teppanyaki. In Japanese, teppan means an "iron plate" or a "steel sheet," and yaki, "stir-fried food" or "stir-frying." The teppanyaki and hibachi styles, come together to create a mouth-watering form of cuisine that continues to increase in popularity in the Fairfield region and across the nation.
Fuji, the mountain of national symbol in Japan, was selected for it's imagery and desire to provide exceptional food and service. An image of the gold Fuji mountain was chosen for the restaurant logo.

I came to Fuji with a party of 7 people. Half the adults attending had been to it when they were kids and wanted to go back for the Hibachi. We made a reservation and were seated around the hot table. Our server took our drink order then returned to take our food order. The menu has a good variety of sushi and hibachi dishes. For $22.50 I chose the filet mignon entree which came with soup, noodle, salad and shrimp.
The soup was brought out first. It was really good. Miso style with fried onions. Then the salad came with a light ginger dressing. We all loved it. Separately we had ordered a shrimp tempura appetizer. It was fantastic. Perhaps the best tempura I've ever had. There was a small gap in time after that until our chef came but we had fun watching the other tables action.
Our chef was hilarious and completely on point with his moves. It was very entertaining. He had us laughing the whole time. He started off with the fried rice and noodles. I got the noodle which could of used more flavor then tried the rice and thought it was better.
The shrimp appetizer was tasty. Then he started on our entrees. My filet was perfectly done to med rare. It was chopped up into small pieces that were tender and juicy. I used the ginger dipping sauce along with it.
Overall we had a blast. The value for the quantity of food is great. Drinks are reasonably priced. Service was very friendly.
