The standard of food has definately gone down. Used to be great and now it's just average, tastes like frozen. Since the move has lost the atmosphere. Would not go back.

This place has excellent food, especially for the money. They have a few items that CANNOT be beat anywhere else and is where they far surpass anyone in that dish---red beans and rice, tortilla soup, blue cheese dressing, bread pudding (I do not even like bread pudding---but their's is to die for), blackened fish.

I AM A FORMER EMPLOYEE AND MUST SAY I AM BLOWN AWAY BY SOME OF THE REVIEWS. YES FISHMONGERS IS A BIT PLAIN IN THE AMBIANCE DEPARTMENT, BUT IT IN NO WAY AFFECTS THE TASTE OF THE FOOD!!! EVERYTHING IS FRESH, DELIVERED NEAR DAILY. THE RECIPES ARE HOME COOKED FAMILY TRADITIONS, AND THE SERVERS ARE WARM FRIENDLY PEOPLE. I CAN HONESTLY TELL YOU ANY RESTAURANT WHERE THE SERVERS LEARN YOUR NAME AFTER ONLY A TIME OR TWO IS SOMEWHERE WHERE YOU KNOW YO ARE CARED ABOUT. I WAS AN EMPLOYEE FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND CAN PROMISE YOU THAT THEY ARE THE BEST GROUP OF PEOPLE I HAVE EVER WORKED WITH. THEY LOVE THEIR CUSTOMERS AND TREAT ALL OF THEM EQUALLY MAGNIFICENTLY. NO CUTTING CORNERS. THEY WANT TO SEE YOU BACK! SURE SOMETIMES THERE ARE OFF DAYS, BUT PLEASE DON'T JUDGE THE BUNCH BY ONE SOUR APPLE!!! IT IS TRULY GOOD FRESH HOME COOKED MEALS AT A GREAT PRICE! DONT FORGET THE MARKET!!! BEST PRICES IN TOWN.

We have been going to Fishmongers ever since it opened. We have never had a bad meal.Personally I am partial to anything with their Ponchartrain sauce. The servers are excellent. Their Red Beans & Rice and Fries and salad with the spicy house dressing are excellent. We've seen the prices rise over the past 20 plus years but they are still a bargain. I am surprised at some of the negative review here, but I guess everyone has their opinion and am thankful I ate here the first time before seeing any of those reviews.

My family and i came in for the first time last night, the place was packed. There was about a 10 minute wait, but it was no problem, the young man at the door was very kind and entertained our son while we waited for a table. Our waitress, reccomended the Mahi Mahi which was amazing and with the salad, fries, and beans will fill you up. We are definently going back next week.

Woefully painful experience. I've been a 15 year patron and have watched the quality and service steadily decline. Tonight, the service was lackluster at best and disinterested to be kind. The food (coconut shrimp and fried shrimp) tasted like it was leftover from lunch and refried. Same story on the french fries. That's it. I'm over it and won't be back. Too many quality restaurants who actually train their wait staff to serve.

The food was decent, the waitress i had was Terrible. I would never go back just because of the service.

I've been going to Fishmongers for more than 20 years now. The quality hasn't changed even as they grew. Try the Baked Ocean Scallops or the Crawfish Etuoffee, it's the best Etuoffee I've had anywhere. It's made with good, spicy dark brown roux, not the clear roux so many places in Dallas use. Oh, and the Bread Pudding is to die for. Overall, a good value for Louisiana style seafood away from the coast.

Friends and I were anticipating a wonderful seafood meal this past Sunday night and were very disappointed. There were only a few patrons, so we were seated immediately and placed our order within a few minutes of arriving. I had shrimp and scallops on a skewer. The fish was dry and obviously overcooked. The red beans and fries that accompanied it were cold and the fries looked like they had been cooked too long in old grease. This used to be one of my favorite restuarants. I'm not sure if the move to the new location was too much for management to handle. It seemed to me that the manager was not checking the food as it left the kithen. I won't be going back.

The food was ok...nothing special. The thing that bothered me was the fact of cockroaches in the sugar bowl on my table and a roach climbing up the wall beside my table. I couldnt finish my meal. so at this point I would NOT recommend this resturant to anyone.

Terrible dinner experience. We had the featured special which was Grilled Halibut. It was the worst fish I ever had and covered with pepper and spice, so even if it was eatable it would have been overpowered by the pepper. My friend had the other special and it was swimming in oil or some type of fat. I won't go back.

My family and I went to this reseraunt last Thursday and were very pleased with our expierince. Right when we walked in the door we were greeted very kindly by the seater. Our waitress, I believe her name was laura, was extrmely kind and made our experience more than delightful. The food was very good, i reccomend the mussel pot. 5 stars

I had a bad experience at Fishmongers. I love the soup there but they have lost me as a customer. they were prejudice. when we went thru the doors and stood there waiting to be seated we were looked over. we stood there about 11 mins then a white couple came in and a waitress came over to us and seated us and before we could sit down a waiter came over to the white couple which meant they did not have any wait time to be seated. the couple got their drink order before we did and when we brought it to the server's attention he said he was sorry about the whole thing but they were busy. not true. anyway to make a long story short we were not treated fairly and i will not be going back again.

On Saturday, October 6th I visited this restaurant for the first and last time. I felt that the waiter/managers were very rude to me and my aunt. I felt that I was discriminated and treated with poor customer service from the manager/owner. The young man indicated that he was the manager/owner when I ask to speak to someone above him. He told me and my aunt that we should not patronize Fishmonger's again.

They overcharged me (by mistake) and I informed them of this. After 3 months and 3 letters, they have not even responded to me. All I wanted was for a few dollars to be refunded. NO big deal. I am not upset at losing the money...but I am upset that they don't care enough to even give me the courtesy of a reply to my complaint. I guess they win?

We have gone to Fishmonger's for many years and it is wonderful. The catfish is very tasty and I love the red beans and rice and their french fries are so good. I only wish there were hushpuppies!!. Our waiter, Gary Bardin, is always really good and we ask for him whenever we're there. We've also had Angela who is good to. We like the salmon also. The lunch menu is a great meal for so little money-better than a hamburger!!! Try it, you'll love it. In fact, I'm going tonight!!!

The fried shrimp are the BEST in town...no doubt about it. The boiled shrimp need some improvement. Throw a couple of pouches of "crab boil" when you are boiling the shrimp and that would be a great improvement. Been eating here for years and will continue to do so.

On Sunday evening, 6:30PM, my wife and I ate at Fishmongers for the first time, and found that the food was tremendously good. The Shrimp were Large, really large, and the blackened catfish were both extremely good. The restaurant was clean, friendly, and the entire staff should be commended. We will definitely return.

My family and I go here almost every time we are in the mood for seafood. If you haven't been, then you don't understand. Everything I've ever tried has been tasty! Absolutely delicious shrimp tortilla soup. The Tilapia Chiuahua is excellent if you like spicy it has a spicy green tomatillo sauce with tortilla strips. The Fried Shrimp, Blackened Tilapia, Fried Catfish, and Salmon are excellent as well. The fries are even good...like a homestyle. The red beans and rice are a nice compliment to the meals as well. Oh, and the crab fingers as an appetizer are a MUST!!!! If you like thousand island dressing, their house dressing is great. If there is anyone who has been here and not been impressed I beg for you to give it another shot. Everywhere has an off day now andagain, I know I have had the experience elsewhere. The new place being inside an old Chili's makes for a loud atmosphere...personally I like the old small building better. However, the business is better, because it is visible from next to the highway. The food is great, it is reasonable for great seafood. The wait can be really long so plan ahead. Mussles are good too!

After reading the reviews we decided to try Fishmongers.......horrible mistake. The peal and eat shrimp tasted rubbery and had brown 'stuff' (for lack of a better word) all over it. The sauce on the salmon was good enough but the salmon itself had no flavor and was most definatly not fresh. The talapia with verde tomitillo sauce looked like something that had been regurgitated and tasted about the same. The only item we found the least bit appetizing were the french fries, however, most of them were the burnt crumbs. Bottom line, we paid $45 for lunch for two people.....and it is probably one of the worst wastes of money I have ever spent. This is as best the love child of Lubbys and Golden Coral. Dont waste your money or time here.

I am a born and bred Cajun girl, who loves fresh seafood which is a daunting task living in North Texas. I love the oysters on the half shell they are large and always fresh, the all you can eat catfish is also worth the trip on Sundays and Wednesdays. The fish is cooked to perfection and never tastes fishy or old, it's usually too hot to eat when it first comes to the table, also great cold beer mugs....always a great dining experience that you can enjoy in a ball cap and T-shirt!

Salmon in Basil Cream Sauce is ALONE worth going for!

We go to Fishmongers 3 to 4 times a month with friends and I love going there not only for the food, but also for the surroundings/atmosphere. Me being from a small town in St. James Parish Louisiana it is a feel of home. Some place you can go and not have to use your silverware if you don't want. So if you don't like the feel of a small town Cajun restaurant that doesn't have the fancy white table cloths and dishes, this might not be the place for you, but atleast try the crawdaddy's when in season, red beans & rice & bread pudding, you never know you might enjoy. I for one hope's Fishmongers never changes.

The waitress was attentive and friendly. We tried the Mexican shrimp cocktail which proved to be lacking in flavor. The shrimp themselves had little to no flavor and seemed to have sat in water a bit too long. The pontchartrain was nice though weak on flavor. The fried scallops were tasty and the crawfish etouffee had great flavor, which has everything to do with the proper rue. The dessert of bread pudding was spot on and must be a favorite there. The atmosphere was like eating at a small table in someone’s garage and with their reflective windows my wife felt as though she was in a fishbowl. The decor looked like a college dorm room with only neon beer signs and a few working overhead lights to dine by. We will try their sandwiches for lunch another time but will not be back for dinner as the prices don't coincide with the atmosphere or the quality of the food overall.

Everything I've ever tried has been tasty! The fried catfish and shrimp etoufee are the best around. Don't leave without trying the shrimp tortilla soup or the bread pudding, too!

Absolutely delicious shrimp tortilla soup. A must have when coming here, even if it is just a cup. Last time I was in, they said they are no longer serving tuna fajitas, which were my favorite, but all of their food is just as delicious. You must try the bread pudding, it is the best in the world!

My husband, our children and I go to Fishmongers approximately once a month for lunch. I love Fishmonger's blackened chicken, shrimp tortilla soup, tuna fajitas and bread pudding. I have never before liked bread pudding until I was talked into trying it and to my surprise I really enjoyed it. The blackened chicken lunch portion comes with two large chicken breasts, red beans and rice, french fries and your choice of salad or cole-slaw for under $7.00. I choose to substitute the beans and fries for a cup of the shrimp tortilla soup for a small upcharge. Writing this review has made me hungry for Fishmongers.

I love it every single time I go!!!!! The crab fingers as an appetizer are a MUST!!! And I could just die for their fried shrimp plate. Yum, yum :))
