Ive worked at enough restaurants by now to know what the job is like on the inside (READ: I recognize stale food and health hazards). The vegetables looked like they were from the previous night and had been refried, the smell of the food was unappetizing and the meat simply unedible. My friend ordered the beef and brocoli and the meat was not cooked fully. I would gladly recommend the Health Food dept. make a stop here. The manager was defensive and thats normal. The service was good but we came here for the food.

The food was completely bland and disgusting. The eggflower soup tasted like water. The orange chicken came with the sauce on the side. The sauce was flavorless, and the chicken (along with the veggies it came with) tasted like they were fried in oil that had not been changed in some time. I work in the food service industry, and I can say that not only is that unhealthy, but declared unsafe by the health department.

When we called to notify the manager of the unacceptable state of his food, he proceeded to argue, claiming that the food was full of flavor. He did not offer any food in exchange, or a refund of the money. CHINA STATION LEFT US HUNGRY, DISGUSTED, AND FRUSTRATED.

China Station serves somewhat dull Chinese food that is uninventive but serviceable. The good thing is that everything tastes quite fresh and feels clean. The bad thing is that everything lacks the intense flavor Chinese food is known for. It's best for delivery, especially if you live on campus. The best dishes to get would be stir-fried ones like beef and broccoli or kung pao chicken. For the most part, stay away from the deep-fried foods like sweet and sour pork or lemon chicken because it's usually not as good as other restaurants. The chow mein is also pretty decent.

I loved the food there and the waitress was very friendly. The chicken chow mein was the best i have had in santa cruz.

I just had there food for the first time and I must say, it just wasn't very good. The tofu didn't have any flavor and the wontons were chewy at the center.
