A diner from San Francisco California gave an overall rating of 3.2  out of 5 stars on December 22, 1999 @ 5:32 PM

We held a small Christmas party on Tuesday, December 21st. My first experience with the restaurant was finding a dirty restroom. The evening seemed to go downhill from there. Although our reservations were made a few weeks in advance and were for 7:00, we were asked to wait in the bar until our room was ready. At 7:25, after going upstairs to inquire, we were seated in the main dining room, with no apology or explanation. There were 11 of us and they seated us at tables pushed together directly in front of the main door, which had to remain open, because they were having problems with the lock. The one good experience was our waitress. She was attentive to our needs, and even removed an untouched entree from the bill. The portions were small and ill-prepared. The steaks were not served as ordered, being extremely undercooked, as was a child's hamburger, though requested as medium-well. Most of the dishes lacked flavor, and seemed to be comprised of garnish to fill the plate. The prime rib and coconut shrimp dinner, at $27.00 was a mostly fatty piece of meat lacking any flavor and 3 shrimp with no coconut flavor. The one highlight of the menu was the dessert. We ordered a cream dish covered in chocolate and bananas that was incredible. I would enjoy going back for just the dessert, skipping the mediocre appetizers and entrees. For the price we paid, we were very disappointed in the quanity and quality of the food. We have dined at the Chart House in other cities, and have enjoyed the experience thouroughly. While the view was beautiful, and the restaurant might be more accomodating to a smaller group, I hope to find a suitable place along the ocean that will offer quality food and a beautiful view too.
