A diner from dc said... on August 1, 2009 @ 10:11 AM

Several years prior to my last and very disappointing visit to your restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and preparation of your food--or at least the food that was then served in that location in a restaurant by the same name. My last visit on 7/16/09 could certainly be my last. Quite frankly, it was the worst meal I have ever had outside of some Chinese food I ate once in West Virginia. A quick review :

I ordered a cup of bisque that was very floury and devoid of flavor, I should have taken the clue and left, but did not and thought a little sherry might make it palatable--

the waiter looked at me like I was from outer-space when I requested the sherry for my crab bisque--I had to explain to him what sherry is and then he had to go talk to the bartender. I mixed it in and managed to eat it.

I got the prime rib special and my wife got the honey salmon.

My prime rib was not completely horrible, but was lukewarm and quite salty.

The Honey Salmon, not 'glazed' as described, but simply swimming in a sugary broth that tasted simply like sugar, nothing like honey, and lacked depth of flavor was over-cooked yet just barely warm.

My wife added a side salad which was possibly the best thing set before us that evening.

We both chose the same sides: asparagus and garlic mash. We were unable to eat any of the sides.

As I pointed out to the waiter, the asparagus was woody and barely even warm--it was for all intents and purposes UNCOOKED!! Yuck! No substitution was offered.

The garlic mash was tannish-gray and gummy and should not have been plated. The waiter tried to educate me that it is mashed. No solution was presented.

In the end I received a 10% discount and the price of the salad was deducted after a rather unnecessary round of negotiations with the waiter after I promised him that he would not be penalized for the discount I deserved-- I tipped him 20% of the original check of $55.00 not the reduced amount.

I would much rather be writing you telling you how great everything was, but regrettably I can't do that as it was a pretty bad experience
