I've been to Bogarts many times and have never had a bad meal. The service has always been perfect.I've read many of the reviews and see most of the complaints are usually refering to meat being tough, dry and chewy. Then after seeing that some of thoughs customers had ordered there steaks med.well or well I laugh!! Sounds like the cooks did what you asked, but you didn't realize that when you cook meat to that degree it will be like eating a shoe with dirt on it!!I'll almost bet most complainers poured a whole bottle of A-1 on thoughs steaks!Wake up people it's not the 60's any more!!

My experience there was awful. The server was great, but the $30.00 prime rib I ordered as medium well was burned to a crisp, dried out and difficult to cut or chew. When I complained to the manager, he made no effort to replace the steak or remove it from our bill. He didn't even apologize for the error in overcooking. I was very disappointed, as prime rib is my "signature meal" I order everywhere I go on special nights. I've never had a restaurant burn it & not care. A medium well prime rib is pretty standard across the board. I'd never recommend them to anyone!!!

I've dined here several times over the past five years and I've never experienced the service that I read about in the reviews which prompted me to write. My waiter/waitress was extremely accommodating. I've only had one waitress who was not as responsive as I felt she could have been but having some understanding of the business, I realize that she may have been informating the staff, they were not responsive to her, thus she could not be to me. Then when it was time to go, my waitress was skimpy with the containers, but other than this, I found the food, especially the Prime Rib which I really go there for or the Halibut, Roughy, etc. is great. I'd like to see more types of grilled fish, and Prime Rib being available every day even if its in limited proportions; but until that day, I can live with their selection.

The food there was absolutely phenomenal. I went to the Homewood location. It was so much food I didn't even have room for desert. The hostess there was great!!

The worst, rudest hostess I have ever encountered tonight and I have visited many times. Sorry, I can't rate the food and dining experience because I walked out. I guess she didn't want to bother making a customer welcome!

Went for Mother's Day and was sooo disappointed. Staff was rude and gave us 1 hour to be seated, eat and "leave because the next seating is here". Complained to the General Manager today and was astounded at how rude he was. No wonder the wait staff is so rude. Totally ruined my day as well as my mother-in-laws day. I'll NEVER go back.

I have been to Bogarts charhouse about 15 times and all the experances were wonderful. I have had several items from there menu and all were delecious ,my personal favorate is the NewYork Strip, butterflied . Also the bread and double baked patotoes are to die for. the service has always been great on my birthday last year my sister asked the server to sit on my lap for a picture , She was a nice young lady with a great attitude. The people I bring with me when I go are big eaters and there is always diggie bags taken home. This is one of my favorate restraunts when I make plans to I count down the hours, it makes Kelseys look like dogfood. Best steak house . I would rank it with some of Chicagos best . If you are from Indiana I would travel from as far as Jasper or Newton counties to eat there. **** stars

Last night my sisters and I took our mother out for her birthday. We all had decided on a nice big juicy steak dinner! Although friends suggested Mr. Benny’s we did our research and decided that Bogart’s sounded like a go. After a 30 minute drive from Chicago to Bogart’s, we arrived to a very spiffy looking place. All of us were impressed by the atmosphere. Crowded, but not too loud. The lighting was also perfect. We sat in the bar area as a starter with cocktails all around. After about a 10 minute wait we were seated at a nice booth with a marvelous picture of Bogie and Bacall as a backdrop. One of my sisters immediately started taking photographs of us and my mom gathered underneath Bogie. We noticed that the steaks were gigantic and tried to order the smallest one, and even that was impossible. We had fried shrimp, lamb chops, Casablanca porterhouse, Ribeye, and New York strip steaks. Everything was delicious except for my sister’s New York cut. She cut and cut and cut and it was thoroughly laced with fat. Finally after 5 minutes, she gave up and told us “I can’t eat this, it’s way too fatty”. She told the server this and ordered a different cut that she and server agreed would probably come out leaner. After much chewing we all decided to doggie bag the huge amounts of steak we had left over. Meanwhile my sister still had not received her steak. At least 20-25 minutes had gone by. We figured her steak being medium “RARE” should have been put at the front of the line in the kitchen since they had made a mistake by giving her a FATTY one in the first place. My sister, who was also the host, told the server, we would like the check and please forget about the steak, everyone has eaten but me and we “all” are ready to leave at this point. The server said, ok, but it’s coming right out soon. The next thing you know big “Dave” the manager comes out with a humongous attitude. He says, “Is there a problem?” My sister told him “No, I ordered a steak for dinner and it was too fatty; I asked for a replacement steak that came out 25 minutes too late. Everyone has eaten and we are ready to leave.” Dave was very confrontational and had no customer service skills. He actually yelled at my sister saying, “There’s a steak in that kitchen that you ordered, and ‘I’m’ not eating it!” He screwed up the rest of the evening for us and I would not recommend anyone eating there. We were all looking shocked. No one expected him to act so ignorant with 5 new customers, or that he jeopardize return business and the restaurant’s reputation. My sister tried on 3 occasions to kindly explain what had gone on and how it didn’t make any sense for her to eat 30 minutes after her guests had eaten, and stated that she really didn’t have a problem paying for it. Dave was belligerent and pushy with his attitude of “YOU ORDERED IT, YOU EAT IT” It wasn’t necessary. So Dave, and Bogart’s restaurant of Homewood, you can take that steak and your restaurant and shove it! You are too insensitive and lacking in good customer relations that you don’t deserve acclaim or new business. Take some courses in customer service and learn how to speak to people properly. Remember, the customer’s always right! Next time, we’ll eat at Mr. Benny’s.
