The last guy who said that he enjoyed the Outback Steakhouse more than 5th Street in Chico, thats a guy who has eaten at red lobster and ihop his whole life. The fillet mignion or any other cut of meat they serve for that matter are excellent. When you serve good meat you don't over flavor it. Natural flavor. For the ranch dressing he was complaining about, your probably looking at the kids menu, try a vinargette or something. Fifth street never disappoints. So go enjoy out back steak house if you like, the rest of us will stay local and enjoy locally raised meats and top notch produce ect.

I can't believe the review I just read on 5th Street!??!! The place is AMAZING. The food is to die for!! Dear God, you thought Outback Steak House was better?? I can't imagine the thought! Fifth Street is the favorite restaurant amongst my group of friends (mid-30's). The petite filet, mid-rare is the best. Doesn't compare to anywhere else I've eaten.
Ignore the previous review. Most everyone knows that Fifth Street is one of the best restaurants in Chico.

First the good! The decor was great. The Garlic Mashed Potatos were EXCELLANT. The sour doug bread was great. The wait staff Top Notch. The dessert for my wife's birthday was outstanding. Then It goes down hill from there. This resturant was recomended to me from a close friend as being better than Outback SH. He could not be more wrong. Dreadful comes to mind of their cusine. The house salad, horrible, the ranch dressing was white liquid with no taste. The iced tea tasted of flowers, what? The steak was prepared well, with no taste. The lighting was low and flickering constantly, and the place was too loud. $ 35.00 for a meal where the steak and potatos were the only included items is bad. This resturant failed in the primary item nessesary for sucess, taste. This resturant lacks it almost wholly. Deffinately not worth the prices they charge, and we did not order the expensive items. Outback Steakhouse may be a franchised chain, BUT they continually serve good food. That is the secret to sucess.
