Restaurant Description
The 1902 Tavern located downtown in historic Market Square has been the choice of discerning Pittsburgh diners since nineteen hundred and two. The 1902 Tavern was beautifully restored to its original appearance in 1982 and is one of the most distinctive dining spots east of the Mississippi. The 1902 is famous for its bone-in prime rib, steaks and seafood and the 1902 now offers an expanded menu that includes stuffed filets, ribs, fried shrimp, pork chops and rack of lamb. Stop in for dinner and have a great meal at one of the most historic and distinctive restaurants in Pittsburgh - the 1902 Tavern - in Market Square - within walking distance of all major downtown hotels. The 1902 Tavern was originally established as the Dimling Brothers Bar and Grill. Painstaking care has been taken to restore the original tile patterns, brass work and tin ceilings. The original bar no longer existed but after an extensive search an authentic 19th century bar, similar in style, was located in an old hotel in South Fork, PA. The tavern holds the PA liquor license # R-8, the eighth license issued in the state following the repeal of prohibition. It is believed to be the oldest license in western Pennsylvania.

Food has gone downhill. I went a few years ago to watch the Kentucky Derby and had a decent meal. Now, the burgers are flimsy and everything else is below-average. It's not a bad place to have a few beers and watch a game, but it's a sports bar, not ...

the drinks are overpriced and so is their terrible food. I waited forever and a day just to get the food and when i requested something extra, it never came. The manager was working the bar and was horrible. His attitude was rude and non-attentive...

To start, the plates were so filthy my wife had to use a baby wipe to clean them off. One of the glasses even had lip prints on it. We were convinced the dishes weren't washed at all, even though we were the first patrons to dine there that evening...
