Back in the early 90's when I lived Downtown, Benny's was THE place for excellent Mexican food in Denver. The chips were served warm and the salsa was spicy. You'd burn your mouth on the food because waiting for it to cool was out of the question, it was that good. Oh and the margaritas Mmmmm. Somewhere over the last 5 years Benny's lost sight of what they used to be - darn good Mexican food, cheap. Prices started creeping up and the quality went away. Service was never great, but it didn't matter. Today I took my son to Benny's and couldn't even finish my plate. I sat looking around at all the awards on the walls as I choked down the dry rice and beans in front of me and I was more sad then angry, because today I knew for sure that I've been avoiding Benny's for a reason and won't be going back again.
Goodbye old friend, you'll be missed.

I love this place! My kids do too. Any place that has been around for 40 years must be doing a lot of things right.

Located across Blake St. from the huge Rio Grande restaurant, how can a hole-in-the-wall Mexican eatery compete? EASY! Affordable, delicious food. While Rio is known for drinks and patio, D'Corazon is known for food. If you can live without the patio ...
