we use to live in sumter and would take bar b que with us to delaware - now we live in augusta ga and i am still going to sumter to get bar b que for the sisters to take to delaware and pennsylvania - all employees are so nice and helpful - i only need 10 quarts this time!
I just LOVE this place. I moved from Sumter S.C. in 1990, to Oklahoma City. There is no where here that even comes close to Ward's bbq, hash and rice. All of it is just GREAT. I eat there when I go home, but that,s not often enough. I wish they would start shipping their food.They really are incredible.. If you are ever in the area you should try. I miss home and great bbq.

Wards is the best you will find. There cole slaw is too die for, as well as there hash and rice. Have been eating there for 15 years and everytime I am back in Sumter I get extras to take home. Wishing they would start sending it frozen...

Wow, the food is wonderful. Great service, friendly atmosphere! I had a turkey cooked by them and it was one of the best we have ever tasted.

Ward's BBQ is the best BBQ I've had in South Carolina and my family & I have been eating there for as long as I can remember. I live in Columbia now and there is no place here that compares to Ward's in Sumter. When I visit my parents we normally have BBQ from Ward's and the staff all know my dad by name. I really wish they would look into opening a place in Columbia.
