It's certainly better than the overpriced slop they serve at Palmer's Deli. Jason's Deli is better in my opinion. It isn't much of a "Deli" really, it's a sandwich shop. The Mama Mia is their best sandwich by far. The staff seem to be the resident people you'd try and avoid when working out at the YMCA downtown. They are generally nice but if you interrupt their assembly line they get agitated. The actual building is a dump so not much for ambience. But if you want a good sandwich and don't want to drive far from downtown it's a good eat.

I thought the Manhattan Deli was ok. I think there are other deli's in Des Moines that make far superior sandwich. The food is priced ok for the amout that you receive and the taste is average. It has good atmosphere but the food isn't to die for.
I've tried all the other resturants in town that sell tamales these are the Best tamales in town go here soon and often I know I will!!!! Thank you Panchos!!! 12/30/11

My experiences at Manhattan Deli have all been fantastic, I go about once a week and my boyfriend goes more often than that. It drives me crazy when someone writes a scathing review that I know is not true. Manhattan deli is a family-run local business, sorry you can't treat the staff badley like the October 12th diner probably does everywhere he goes. I know the type, demanding and cheap. We don't want people like you at Manhattan. Save it for the friendly locals, and if that's you, give Manhattan a try.

The food wasnt all that bad(or that good). What really suprised me was how my wife was treated when she asked if she could have her sandwich heated up just a little bit more. The sandwich was ice cold in the middle and the person that she asked snapped at her and rolled his eyes. Also, this person was not very well groomed. One thing is for certain,I can find a better way to spend my 20.00.....
