Restaurant Description

The Lord Fox Restaurant is a 125 year old house on six picturesque acres in the hamlet of Dixboro, just outside the city limits of Ann Arbor.Built in 1880, the house was situated on the main route between Ann Arbor and Detroit and in the 1920's was opened as the "Farm Cupboard Restaurant" to offer weary travelers food and drink. However, some say it was more than a restaurant in those early days, operating as a "blind pig" before the repeal of prohibition, many a poker game was held in the basement room, now known as the "Foxes Den."Also, in those early years, Henry Ford, could be seen here with union buster Harry Bennett as the rode their horses to the Farm Cupboard for Sunday dinner.Today, the Lord Fox remains a family owned restaurant and retains much of the "Gone With the Wind" style rarely seen in this area. You may choose to dine indoors, outdoors, or in the lovely gazebo overlooking Fleming Creek that runs through the estate. Private rooms or the entire facility are available for parties or special occasions. The cuisine is European-American, and the atmosphere is quiet and unpretentious. The prices are moderate, and the dress code is casual or with sport coat.It is a great place to enjoy the company of friends, fine cuisine, and wines from our award winning wine cellar. We invite you to visit this little island of local history. A worthy destination indeed!

DO NOT EVER GO HERE! These one star entries are only given because it doesn't go any lower. First of all, there is a coat room in the foyer, and the host (who turns out to be the manager) did not offer to take my coat. Caesar salads had too much dressing, brown lettuce and store bought, everyday croutons. Twenty minutes after ordering, the waiter (who had body odor) explained that it would not be too much longer. We watched as many tables seated after us received and finished their food. After twenty more minutes, I called over said manager and inquired as to the delay. He gave a different excuse than the waiter. Five more minutes and the food was delivered over- cooked and luke-warm at best. We told the manager we would pay for our wine and salads (still $70) and we were leaving. He did not offer an apology nor any attempt to make it up to us. I am in the restaurant industry - in this economy they can not afford to be making customers this unhappy. Thank you, Lord Fox, for ruining a romantic Valentine's day!

Best breakfast in Ann Arbor. Best coffee too.

Great subs - awesome experience. I'd be tempted to open on in Saline or Chelsea as it would be a great addition. They are the pricier than say a Subway, but it's a higher price sub.

I used to frequent two Ahmo's locations regularly. But I can say that I will NEVER be going back after the service I received there recently. After our order was screwed up and we had driven 20 minutes back to our house, we called and informed them w ...

Popped in to this unique sub shop and was pleasantly suprised at the quick service, easy menu, food quality, and dining experience. I had a medium sub and it was huge! The spicy ham is unique and very tasty.
