The Chicago Diner is absolutely one of the very best vegetarian restaurants in the Chicagoland area. Their menu is varied and their vegan desserts are absolutely wonderful.
The cuisine at the Diner is mostly vegetarian (and vegan) adaptations of American comfort food. They have a reuben sandwich, a philly cheese steak sandwich, and a Diner burger served with all sorts of veggies for toppings. The have a 'meat' loaf and BBQ 'chicken' sandwich. Basically, you just can't go wrong no matter what you get there.
Their serving sizes are wonderful for the price. Often you are served so much food that it is hard to find room for a piece of their fabulous vegan cakes. Of course, you can always get a piece to go :).
I would recommend this restaurant to vegetarians, vegans, and meat-eaters. Everyone can find something great at the Diner.

We really felt good here......sandwiches
radical reuben.....philly steak (diner made seitan) top notch...filling....reasonably priced...huge portions.....great cocoa mousse cake (vegan) we will be back!

This has to be one of the best retaurants for vegans in America if not the world.
The second time I went there I skipped all first and second courses and just went straight for the pudding! There are just so many desserts and they are incredible. The vegan cheesecake is the best I have ever eaten. The chocolate cakes are wonderful.
Many of the staff are vegan which is very good thing. It is a very pleasant neighbourhood to wander around afterwards too.
I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Best of all is that it has been in business for a long time and is likely to remain in the future. The reason must be because the food is so good.
AnYbody thiniking about opening a vegetarian place should visit and see how things should be done! And anyone who is vegetarian should make a point of visiting.
For me, and I am from the UK, this place shines out like a beacon in a world of darkness!

Excellent choice of foods for vegans and vegetarians. A great variety of dishes, salads, natural/fresh drinks, etc. My personal favorite is the Tofu Scrambler!!
