The kimchee and the pork bulkogi were good, the beef bulkogi and the kimchee chigae were passable, but lacked from a great Korean dining experience. The beef teriyaki was tough and lacked flavor. Not the best Korean food in the valley, but will do in a pinch. The kimchee really was good.
As for the name - well, you kind of expect table top grills, but disappointingly, there are none. There were at one time, but the tables have been modified and the grills removed. Sad. It would have been a better experience if we had been able to cook our bulkogi as needed.

The family atmosphere of this place is great! Many repeat Korean customers should tell you this place is authentic and good! The hostess Miss Kim is very attentive. Food is always fresh and nicely prepared. The pricing is very affordable ($10-$15). Small sushi bar is bursting with creative and delicious rolls. The booths come with their own grill to use for the Korean BBQ experience! Always friendly service, fresh food and great pricing keep me coming back again and again!

I have been eating sushi here since 1997. I lived in Yokohama Japan for 4 years and Kampai Sushi is the best Japanese in all of Arizona! I would recommend this place as a first choice!

This is the Best of the Best. You can't get any better sushi in Arizona. I love Kampai. It's worth every penny. And if you have to wait it's also worth the time.

We love Kampai! and have been going there for at least 2 years. I almost hate to spread the word because I want them to myself, but Kampai is the best we've had in the Phoenix-Scottsdale area (and I used to live in Manhattan where there is great sus ...

I used to live right near Hana Sushi and went there at least once a month. Definitely my favorite sushi place in the whole valley. Fresh delicious rolls, always. I think they have the best California Roll of any sushi bar I've been to, and their sign ...
