I'm currently the hostess at Shogun and I just started about two months ago. Even in the last two months I've seen things drastically improve at Shogun. People keep talking about how the food isn't worth the price, if you're sitting in dining you just order from the kitchen and you get the entree, vegetables and rice for around 14 dollars, which seems fair to me. The tepanyaki is so expensive because you get to sit and see the show. The chefs at Shogun are paid to give the show, the tips you give go to the server so the extra $10 or so that you pay for tepanyaki at the hibachi table is actually going to pay the chefs. Unfortunately right now we only have two chefs and can seat 100 people in hibachi so if it's a busy night like Saturday you may want to order sushi or something while you wait for a chef to reach your table, but that's just the nature of the beast when you're dealing with hibachi. We do try our best to keep everyone happy, but as I've learned in these past two months it's extremely difficult. I just want you guys to know that we do read your reviews and take everything you say into consideration. Thank you! Hope to see you soon!

I can not believe this place is even called a Japanese restaurant. Their lunch special is very expensive and a very small portion. I will not go back again.

They treat you according to the amount of your bill. You'll get better service if your tab is on the higher end. Otherwise, the waitstaff is unprofessional and they will ignore you. The sushi and menu foods are unsavory and uninspiring. It's pricey for the small portions. The restaurant is poorly ventilated and you'll feel suffocated in there from the smoke.
Make your time and effort worthed elsewhere.

Every time we've gone we have been pleased with quantity and taste of the food. We've always liked the sushi there but are going to try the Hibachi this weekend for my husband's birthday. Hopefully we'll enjoy that as much as the sushi.

Mt daughter and I visited ShoGun for the 1st time and it was wonderful. Since this was the 1st time my 12 year old daughter had eaten sushi she was very impressed, so much so we try to make a monthly dinning experience.

Authenic Japanese food with habachi grill.
Would return here often. Not commercialized like some of the more famous competitors which keep costs down. A welcome surprise.

Excellent restaurant. I eat there for a sushi lunch with coworkers on a regular basis. I've eaten sushi all over the world for about 15 years now so I'm pretty picky about it. My family and I go occasionally on weekends for the hibachi; our son has now become a lobster tail fan (much to the chagrin of my wallet). It is a pricey restaurant for dinner, but what hibachi isn't? The sushi special at lunchtime is an exceptional value though. I HIGHLY recommend Shogun for both sushi lovers and everyone else.

Need something "THEATRICAL" & "DRAMATIC" in your life ? Combine "ENTERTAINING" along with "FRESH" and "DELICIOUS", and you've got a Benihana experience right here in Denton !!! The Habachi grill is outstanding ! Just look at the parking lot to know it's not a secret. True, the atmosphere does not compare to Benihana's so think of the locality's convenience and "ENJOY" !!!

That's funny I thought this place was great. Our cook was the most experienced with flare cooking that I'd ever seen. Everything tasted really good and it wasn't over priced. I will definitely be going back again.

My hubby & I have been to Shogun about every week since they have opened. Although the staff seems inexperienced, we found their enthusiam to be quite charming. The sushi is good, and the presentation is comparable to some we've found in downtown Dallas. Jinbeh still wins regarding hibachi though :)

I ate there for the first time after waiting a long time for them to open. Will never go back, wish I would have went to jinbeh. I told the chef I wanted my steak medium rare and had to stop him while he was cooking before it got well done. We did not have any sauce with our meal becaus the sauce dishs were covered with food residuals. I would highly recomend the staff go to jinbeh and see how it is done because I had to hunt the staff down every time we needed something. It is more than worth the drive for me to go an extra 20 miles for better food and service. They stiffed me on my meal so I stiffed them on the tip , he is lucky I gave him the $4.00 for the $78 bill because i wasn't even going leave him that. I had to hunt them down after I gave them my credit card just so i could leave...took them 15 minutes to run my card now come on...this place is an insult to SHOGUN and they should get this under control. When they asked me how my food was I showed them my left over steak and said I asked for medium rare, the Hostess looked at me and said they probably thought you said medium well....WOOOOOOO ..How many time did she have to say that !!

The atmosphere was quiet but there was no music or mood setting. The sushi was not at optimum temperature and was really "fishy". The food was really cheap quality for the $70.00 price. Their wasabi was dyed horseradish and their wait staff was very inexperienced. I wish I had gone to jinbeh.
