My husband and I love this restaurant. The food is always great and the service is always quick. The staff is very friendly. The cool thing about this place is that they even have a drive thru which we've used on occasion when we're going on a road trip and we just want some tacos to go. Next to my ...

This is a very good small family run restaurant. The breakfast special 3 tacos for $2.99 is a great deal. And the salsa is to die for.
Great food, love the service, and prices are great. Always a crowd!
Best chips and salsa in TOWN, Love the homemade cheese dip-awwesome! In the midst of remodeling, but everything is great. Dont even get me started on the food. OUTSTANDING! A great Tex-Mex taste, in a feels like home environment. : )
We were passing through town one night on our way back into Houston, and was famished so we stopped at the first spot we saw, Amy's Tex-Mex cafe! Oh my gosh it was the BEST, food was great, service was excellent, and not pricey at all. We definitely need one of these in Houston. We Love everyone ov...

This is the best food for the money and my favorite is the #2 Fajita quesadilla, it's 3 tacos of choice of meat with cheese, rice, bean. guacamole and it's just great!!!!! The care guisada is very good as well. My mom is old fashioned and will only eat her own carne quisada, but this is her favorit...

It's great especially if you just want to sit back, relaz, and eat...Raise the flag and the waiter comes to your table and you order more...and those dyas when you wan...

Our experience at Alamo Cafe was less than desirable. Our party of 8 was seated at two different tables instead of just one. Our waiter (the one who served our table) was always rushed. The food was so so. The worst of it was that our table was dirty, menus were covered in salsa, and a moldy air...
Good food, good service. I work downtown and there are so many sleazy looking, fly by night type mexican restaurants. This one looks like they put a fair amount of money in decorating/ambience. From the outside it still looks like the old pizza hut it used to be; but the original restaurant next doo...

Nice, good looking waiter. Looks like Enrique Igelsias.
Our food was disappointing. The enchiladas were old tasting, and we waited a very long time for our order.

Good food, could be a bit cleaner, chairs are very uncomfortable.

We love the chicken fried steak and it's the best tortilla soup ever....however some of the other dishes are not as consistent. As in most places, some dishes are better than others.

We are new San Antonians and very happy that our first lunch was at El Alamo Cafe... What a great place! It's our number one eating place in San Antonio..
Great small place, it really does remind me of the Rio Grande Valley.
