I have been frequenting your 59th ave & 101 location since they opened. I have had nothing but wonderful experiences there.
I just went to the I-10 & Elliot location last night and I will never be back.
The service was poor at best. The wait staff certainly lacks the charm of the west valley locale. Our gyoza plate was taken away while we were still dipping them in the sauce on the plate. I was given two tea bags and a kettle with only hot water when I ordered green tea.
The real problem was when we received our bill. There was over a $100 difference between the bill we received and the actual total. When we brought this to the waitresses attention she took the bill and then came back to loudly let us know in front of everyone that we were wrong. I calmly asked the waitress for an itemized bill. Apparently this was out of line because she stormed up to the front. We followed her and were promptly mistreated by the cashier. She advised me I was wrong. I asked for an itemization when she huffed and puffed and started adding the bill again. The third attempt finally had the correct amount. I paid the tab and did something I have never done in my life. I did not leave a tip. The manager did apologize but this was only after the fact and only because they finally realized their error.
My problem with the service may be the fault of the wonderful service at the west valley locale. My real issue is with the way I was spoken to. I was embarassed at my seat and at the front of the restaurant. I will assure you I never spoke loudly or disrespectly to anyone there. I did not prompt any disrespect. Anyone can make a mistake. The problem is your staff doesn't seem to think anyone has a right to question something.
The only reason I was at that location is because I have a group of friends that go to every sushi location in the valley and rate them. I can assure you my opinion is highly thought of. This restaurant failed at the easiest thing to do. They failed at making my experience there enjoyable.

I love Sakana- the service is always wonderful and the staff is very friendly. I've gone to many sushi restaurants and this place has the best California roll! The food is always fresh!

We go to this restaurant every single week, along with several other regulars that are always there. Yes, it's a bit crowded but that's because the food is great. The wait staff is wonderful and the sushi chefs are among the best. If you don't want to wait, get there for the first seating at 5:30 when they open. Otherwise, expect to wait for a table or the sushi bar. Reservations are accepted at the teppan tables, though, and the food and show is always first rate. BEST PLACE TO EAT IN AHWATUKEE and great value for the money.

I regret that this was not one of my favorite sushi experiences. This restaurant was recommended by a friend but my husband and I were disappointed. The service was clumsy and cluttered, the Maguro was still slightly frozen, the shrimp tempura in our shrimp tempura roll was cold - a sign that it was not freshly made for our order. The spicy tuna roll, and the Agedashi were good but didn't make up for what was lacking in the rest. The restaurant wasn't as cozy as I would prefer. Maybe it is just moving from San Francisco where delicious sushi restaurants are in every neighborhood, or maybe it's just that our expectations were too high. Either way we were not overwhelmed by the sushi at Sakana.

Wonderful food. The place is a little dark and very crowded, but the food is very good, very fresh. Excellent Sushi. One draw back is that the portions are pretty small.
