Very honest opinion from someone back east!
The pizza is very good. Very small slices compared to NY but still very good. Sometime the bottom is a lil soggy depends on who makes it.I had a submarine "hoagie" as they say it here instead of hero. It was a complete JOKE! 1 piece of ham 1 piece of salami 1 capicol 1 cheese ONE piece each on each half of the sandwich! It wasnt even the minimum of what it was SUPPOSE to be. The sandwiches I make at home and the ones they make in NY you cant even fit in your mouth!! The canolis taste good. BUT BUT they break when you bite them, they fall apart many times. the shells are very soft. THE MIDDLE cream filling is always EMPTY!!
So now I just go for the pizza and thats it!
AND they dont care about what you have to say either so dont bother!

Plain and simple......This is pizza not Carne Vino! I get the pizza and wings for $20 and I have received what I ordered EVERYTIME. If I have a concern they listen, but I do know, it needs to be reasonable. I have eaten at Ray's for over 25 years and although its not "perfect" it does get an overall great rating. I do tend to eat at the 7st/carefree hyw. due to living up in that area, but I have eaten at every Ray's in the Phoenix. I agree with the previous comment. These guys are individually owned and are not Russian ( why would that be a problem anyways?0 they are Albanian.

"Addictive" is the best way to describe this new family owned pizzeria. All the best ingredients in their thin, crisp pizza! If you love pizza, calzones, wings, and reasonable prices, THIS is the place to go! Once you do, you keep going back!

First off, I would love to correct everyone's assumptions of Ray's Pizza. I have been friends with one of the families for over 10yrs now, and they are not Russian owned. They are all individually owned so we can't go around getting mad at everyone for one or two people. I love the food, as do my children and I reccommend it to anyone. I am at the Scottsdale location atleast twice a week, sometimes three and no complaints by me!...

I've been to both the 7th St/Carefree HWY & 48th St locations, mostly for take out. Over the last 3 years, the orders have always been correct, the food hot and ready within a min after a arrive [I do arrive 10-15 minutes after I call] I've had no problems with Rays Pizza and would use them again.

However the previous reviews about the girls that work there [at either location I've visited] are correct as they do have poor overall customer service skills. They fail to acknowledge me when I enter, they fail to ask if there's anything else I need, and fail to say thank you for my business. In fact I get better service at MVD in that regard.

There have been a few time when what I assume must be an owner or manager waiting on me [for take out] and they have been very pleasent.

After multiple less than satisfactory experiances I am writing off Ray's Pizza in Cave Creek (near Galligers) permanently.

First visit I was greeted by (to be brutally honest) a vacant eyed bimbo that could not even focus on taking my order without staring off into space or fretting about her manicure. Obviously a pampered family pet that was very unhappy about being pressed into service taking in the filty money she lived to spend.

Next visit hostility and indifference was the rule when I asked for Blue Cheese for my wings. Forget customer service and satisfaction or the fact I would have been glad to pay extra, I was told that "we don't have that" and "maybe you should get your own over at Frys". When I asked why they didn't serve Blue Cheese I was told it was too expensive. Huh. Even at 3-4 bucks a bottle for the good stuff I doubt that a few ounce servings to make a customer feel good with a tab of 25.00 for a couple dozen wings and 2 draft beers would break the bank. Notwithstanding the fact that I pointed out I would gladly pay extra for Blue Cheese.

Last visit I ordered a Large pizza thin and well done but not burned. Got home with pizza and yep, crust was black. Went back and complained and after a hostility laden excuse fest intimating that I was unreasonable about how I wanted my pizza or that I was a jerk because I didn't want to eat a burnt pizza they made a new pizza. Got it home and it was not even done in places. I don't know who these people think they are pizza is not rocket science and there are plenty of other pizza joints close by that I can get mediocre pizza and crappy service at without the attitude. 3rd times the charm, I am done with Ray's Pizza. I have heard they are all owned by the same Russian family so I am not even going to bother with trying other locations, I feature they would all be the same.

The Manager of this place is the rudest I've ever experienced. The pizza is good new york style pizza, but surely not worth having to put up with the managers rudeness. What ever you do, take my advice and stay away from Ray's.

The owners of the Tramonto location are extremely rude (Russian, not Italian). Orders are never correct. Complaints are ignored. Save your money and go someplace else.

Every time I eat at Ray's, I am greeted with a happy staff and smiles from everyone in the pizzeria. The food is always cooked quickly, and it is always delicious!! I've eaten at this location multiple times, and it's always fantastic. I'm sorry that that one guy had two bad times; he is really missing out. :)

This is a great place to get some excellent pizza - they have always been on time and we've never had any problems with our orders!! We now go to the location on I-17 and Carefree Hwy and enjoy that place just as well. It would be nice if they had an even thinner crust to choose from, but what they do have is sufficient and tastes great!!

I used to go to Rays at 59th Ave & Greenway but the last few times they do not understand what thin crust is. We used to go their for years and when we called we would say Im the lady that likes thin. The last pie was thick and lousy. Sorry, Im sticking with Tonys Thin Crust for $3-

Too bad there are not negative stars for this review. I have had two very bad experiences with Rays Pizza. The place is filthy, and the staff is extremely unfriendly. The food would be good if it wasn't so inconsistent.
(Deep dish pizzas run $15-$18 and up each)
If you have a complaint or request a correction to an order beware, the owner turns hostile.
1st complaint my family received a pizza that they put incorrect toppings on. When we made them aware of the mistake, they told us to scrape the toppings off. My family politely refused and requested the plain pizza we ordered. The owner turned very unfriendly about re-cooking the pizza, which was a result of their error.
The 2nd compliant was when we placed an order for two pizzas, one was fine but the other was half burnt and the other half was only partially cooked, so we requested a new one.
They said it would be 20 minutes for a new Pizza, so we agreed to wait. After about 5 minutes the owner pulled the pizza from the oven and wanted to serve my family the pizza uncooked, refusing to cook it further because he was mad we didn't want the burnt one. The owner told us to take it home and don't call to complain because he was serving us dough. That's what we get for not taking the first one. He yelled at my family in front of everyone in the store (all three people) and told us he didn't want customers like us.
We told him to give our money back and we left.
We tried to get ownership information to file a complaint and they refused over the phone to provide it.
After telling people about our experience, including other Rays locations not under the same ownership, we found out this is a common experience.
We will never go back and I hope this helps future consumers choose a better place to get a pizza. Clearly, customer satisfaction and food quality are not priorities at Rays Pizza (Carefree Highway location).

This wonderful family owned pizzeria becomes quite crowded as supper time approaches. Located on Carefree Hwy. and 7th St. it's close to home for me, take out or dine in the food is always wonderful. They not only serve great pizza but also traditional italian such as manacotti and spaghetti, both delicious but not the extent of the selections. Salad and bread included with most dishes, and pizzas sized for family or individuals, I LOVE THIS PLACE. If you are looking for the ritzy ambiance, however, this is not the place seating is booths and smaller tables with a few lighted beer signs and misc. pictures, but the food is what hits the home run for me not matter whethere I call for take out, usually ready in 20min or less, or I dine in I am always satisfied with the service and the awesome food found at Ray's Pizza!!!!
