I love this place! My parents and I go out to eat there all the time. They have really set the bar for getting a good steak. Every time I go elsewhere I am always disappointed and wishing I would have just gone to Old Stone in the first place. And yes they occasionally have there mess ups but c'mon this place isn't a chain like Outback. The recipes aren't studied in some lab in a different state. They were put together by the chef himself! And the owner is very friendly and comes up to our table every time we are there. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. The filet, crabcakes, mac & cheese and salmon salad are the best!

My wife and I have been to Old Stone 40-50 times. Only once was the food not perfect (a steak too done). At that time, we found out that the usual chef was out. Customers tend to dress a little better in Old Stone than the other Gaston County establishments, something that enhances the dining experience in my opinion. Their wine choices are excellent and service is usually superb. The ambiance is much quieter than other area restaurants as well with jazz playing quietly in the background. Overall, probably the best place in Gaston County to dine.

i went to old stone for my mothers birthday lunch and i was hoping it would be a memorable experience. Well...it wasnt. our waitress acted like she would have rather had a shotgun wound to the face and the food wasnt all that great.when you work with the public as i do you cant have the words "i hate my job" written all over your face, it really doesnt hurt to smile and mean it sometimes. i work at a place close by to old stone and have been sending 50-60 people here on a weekly basis. needless to say i will no longer be doing this.

In general when dining, I know every experience can not be stellar every single time and this is of no fault of the restaurant. There are far to many variables at play with ANY establishment and that's not going to change regardless of how many people you know.

My personal experience at Old Stone has always been exceptional, I always felt well taken care of by the wait staff and left with a very full belly of some great tasting food.

Sure it's kinda pricey when compared to the local bars but not by that much and compared to the higher end restaurants in Charlotte they come in much cheaper, Lunch is very reasonable and if you can stand to eat dinner a little earlier you can catch the Early Bird special .. just don't get there with 1 minute to spare. That's just not fair to the restaurant or the staff.

Tonight my wife, daughter and I went to have dinner at Old Stone Restaurant (as we do on many occasions) and to have the early bird special. When we pulled up to the restaurant there were no parking spaces due to road construction. My wife went in to get a table while I went to park the car up the street. She went in at 5:59 and ask for a table and that we wanted the early bird special. Since the hostess had a clock in front of her and my wife was inside; no problem. We thought. Then the hostess said that we needed to all be there before she would seat us and to get the EB special. So my wife said that because of the street construction that has blocked off most of the parking spaces he had to park a long way away but, he is walking down the sidewalk as we speak. I walk in at 6:02 and by this time the manager has come to help seat us. We tell him what we want and because it is after 6:00 they will not accomidate us. So we say well I tell you what, if this is how you treat your customers, neighbors and members of he town of Belmont then I will never walk through your doors again. And the sad part is that the manager did nothing to try to keep a customer whom has been there many times and of whom will never recommend Old Stone restaurant.PS: I know a lot of people in Belmont!

Although a bit pricey for the area I find the filet cooked perfectly (hard to find charbroiled) there's nothing like it. The Crab Cakes are delicious and so is the salad. Service is excellent. Tends to get a bit crowded and load the way the tables are set up.

Don't waste your time or money. We went there for the first time to celebrate our anniversay and will not return. We had to ask for rolls, which other tables received with their salads. I asked for a medium steak, it was rare. Will go to Outback or Omaha Steakhouse in the future

I ordered a Filet Mignon/Crab cake (delicious) and Filet was chared, I ordered it medium, the manager said that is the way we cook all of our steaks. I pd 25.00 for this and I don't want a burnt piece of meat! Too pricey for us and not good food.

My wife and I drove into Belmont from Charlotte to eat here, Service was good, food, not. I started with a rather expensive appetizer of their BBQ ribs, which included 5 or 6 tiny babyback ribs, with very little meat on them. Drenched in an overpowering sauce. But the kicker was the 14 oz. cowboy ribeye I got, thinking steak was their specialty. Steak although ordered medium, was rubbery-tough. It reminded me of a steak that was frozen. After waiting 35 minutes for it, despite being the first customers in the place, I didn't want to wait. The manager's response was lachodasic, at best. I didn't want a free meal, I wanted him to know we wouldn't be back and why. He didn't care. A shame.
