Ordered: Dinner combination #2, #11 and nachos grande.

My meal consisted of a chile relleno, taco and enchilada, beans and rice.

I had never seen a relleno like this before--it was not a relleno by definition, but it was an otherwise unrecognizable tough green chile, stuffed with some kind of UNMELTED white cheese , loosely wrapped in an 'egg blanket' which resembled a very thin omelette. The whole item had that 'freezer-burn taste' and was mostly cold on the inside; evidence of a microwave warm-up. It was awful; an imposter masquerading as a relleno.

The taco was quite small by standard, and was simply an off-the-shelf corn tortilla shell consisting of hamburger meat, lettuce and cheese. They managed to hang shame on a ubiquitous Mexican standard. Bravo!

The enchilada was essentially a replay of the taco; hamburger meat, a tortilla, bland sauce. Again, by definition, this was not a proper enchilada by ANY standard. Even my mother, the one for whom the term 'she could even burn water' was coined, made better when I was a kid.

There were 3 of us in our party, and all 3 meals smacked of 'go to the freezer, get a box.' There was not one shred of evidence ANY home cooking going on in this establishment. By comparison, even ChiChi's was measurably better.

We have a fairly robust Mexican/Central American population in this part of Pennsylvania, and it seemed all the employees were of origin. It surprises me the food here was so lacking in authenticity, preparation, and flavor. To top it off, they have no beer/wine license, so I couldn't even get a Negro Modelo, Tecate or Dos Equis to wash this bland affair from my mouth.

I've been to Mexican restaurants coast-to-coast. This place easily ranks in my mind and one of the worst I have experienced.

Why spend $40 for dinner here, when you can go to Wal-Mart, collect an armful of 'taco bell' branded components, and make your own freezer burned, lifeless concoctions? ...and save most of your money.
