I have been a fan of Margaritas for about 35 years. Once known as "Margaritaville" with a silly logo of a donkey with a drink in hand, I am now only an occasional patron, perhaps once or twice per year. Today, Mexican restraunts are everywhere, not like when they first opened. With each visit I notice a deteration of the food quality and a rise in prices. Gorden Ramsey would have a field day with this place. The complex menu was very crowded with Tex-Mexican and Bar-B-Q'ed items. That was a clear signal that something is wrong. The chips 'n salsa at the table were not home-made or even fresh. The salsa was a bit too chunky, with quarter sized bits of tomato. No heat there, either. I ordered an appitizer of Potato nachos, which were very good, but seemed a bit out of place in a "Mexican" restaurant. My entree was a combo, a cheese enchalada with a Chili Relliano. They had no "green" sauce, so I setteled for their tasteless red. The enchalada shell was a bit hard and chewey and was swimming in the sauce. The rellano was OK, although not much "Monteray jack and Chedder cheese." The combo came with the offical "Rice and beans" and although the rice was good, the beans had a spoiled flavor. My wife ordered a full rack of baby-back ribs, but she received a half-rack of short ribs. The waitress, who was nice, said that the menu reflected the old ribs, but they went to the larger short ribs, hence the difference in size but the same weight. This fact was not stated when she ordered the ribs. No matter, they were terriable, covered in a thick, overly-sweet jar sauce. The place is for sale. I say it will be a merciafible death.

We always have a great experience when dining at Margaritas. The waitstaff is very pleasant and attentive. The food is always fresh and very tasty, you get your money's worth for the price. The lounge upstairs is comfortable and reminds us of 'Cheers', people are friendly even if they don't know you. It's a great restaurant!

I noticed that the other two reviews here are froom 2002 and 2000, so I thought this may need an update.

I have been to Margaritas 2 or 3 times. I think its really good - in fact, other than El Sombero in Plainville, or Senor Panchos in Litchfield, it is my favorite. I really love their steak fajitas, and their chips and salsa are very good. They have margarita pitchers for about $17 or $18 and you get a good number of margaritas out of them - so that definitely keeps their pricing competitive. I have not had any experiences there where things come out gross and deserve quotation marks around them because they do not appear to be what they are supposed to. (Such as my predecessor in review.) I think Margaritas in Canton is definitely worth a shot.

The worst Mexican restaurant I have been, even by Puerto Vallarta standards. The black bean "soup" is simply a Goya can opened and placed on a taco shell, very salty. The chicken taco is worst than Taco Bell: a tortilla shell (one that comes in Ortega box from supermarket) with a lot of lettuce and disgusting yellow "cheese", very salty too, and yes with some old disgusting pieces of chicken. My wife beef and black bean plate was the most disgusting of all. She reported that the small pieces of meat burried under a frijoles/"cheese" microwaved blob was very salty, hard and apparently have been reheated several times. The waiter even forgot to give me a spoon for my disgusting "soup". I had to go to the kitchen to pick one up. It looks that the place is more popular for drinkers of "Mexican" alcoholic mixtures. The Budwiser beer was ok (cold) and so the "doritos". AVOID THIS PLACE, IS A CRIME TO HAVE THIS PLACE OPEN AS A RESTAURANT!
Note: I reviewed Margarita simply as a restaurant (edible food) not only as a "Mexican" restaurant.

Food is average Tex-mex attempt crowded into a New England Colonial Inn setting. Pricing is slightly high for what you get. Most exciting thing is the Margarita.
