It is sad to hear that some have not had a good experience at the Lone star. I have been eating there for more than 30 years and believe it is the most consistently good restaurant I have eaten at in the Valley. The choice of 5 star restaurants in the Valley is non existent. The Lone Star is Restaurant excellent place to dine anytime for a excellent meal.

We just came down from Florida.

I had heard good things about the Lone Star Restaurant in Harlingen, Texas. So my husband and I went there for a special occasion on
2-19-05. My husband had the Pork and I had the ½ slab of Baby back ribs, along with a frozen margarita, a frozen strawberry daiquiri, a coke and the onion rings as appetizers.

1) The Margarita was terrible it tasted like a very salty and sour lemon aid.
2) I then ordered a frozen strawberry daiquiri. It was so sour and bad tasting I had to put sugar in it.
3) My husband’s pork dinner was so dry and hard he could not swallow it.
4) My baby back ribs were so hard, I had to cut them with a knife and had a very hard time cutting through it. They were also very dry and hard.
5) The onion rings was not cooked correctly, there was raw batter all over.

Dinner was really terrible, but we paid our bill ($40.00), gave the waitress a tip (It was not her fault, she was nice), and just left. Sorry to say; we really had a bad time.

I was hoping to have a good experience so that I could pass it on to others, but unfortunately I left a very unsatisfied customer.

I wish I could have another try at it, but I am not willing to lose another $40.00.

Without a doubt the best cheese enchiladas and refried beans. Hot coffee or sweet ice tea with lime is the best way to wash it down. The flour tortillas are all hand made with love. There is no wonder why they have a line outside the restaurant eve ...

If you ever find a better enchilada anywhere, I'll pay you $100. Try the cheese enchiladas and the charro beans. I wish they'd bottle that sauce and sell it!

The atmosphere is very nice, the food tasted great. The service? horrible. Perhaps it was the first day of our server? Couldn't say. Some of our items ordered never arrived, and when asked for them, we were ignored. When the bill came, the tip was automatically included on our table, which I felt wasn't earned. When we questioned the server if we paid for the items we didn't recieve, the response was "i didn't bring them? oh, have a good night"...and left us there.

When we brought this to the managers attention, he never returned to let us know what it was he was going to do to relinquish our experience. Hmmm...guess they didnt' want our business again.
