I have to say that I have been there a few times over the last year and did find the waitstaff to be on the rude side. I am a local of 23 years and do remember when this restaurant was friendlier, more relaxing and I do have to say that the food is not as good as it once was and the cocktails are tight with their liquor. You can fool someone who just visits from another town, but you can't fool the locals. There are just too many other places where the food is great, the cocktails correct and the service at the very least pleasant. I however do hope that they get their act together because I love the place that it sits upon. I will wait a few months before I go back and this time I will not be there for more than 1 drink just to see if they can handle that.

To the person with the first review Mary has nothin to do with Hurricane Patty's she is not a owner and never was.She did work there for a very small amount of time before being fired. Myself knowing this because I am a regular who is a very good friend of the owner, and they never got forced to shut down by the heath department when the owners bought it they shut down to do cleaning and remodling just like every other resterant in St. Augustine does. Hurricane Patty's has made a huge improvment and is one of the up and coming resterants in St. Augustine , let alone one of the cleanest.

Since the other reviews are several years old I can only assume the restaurant has done a complete turnaround because my family loved it. I didn't want to go there because I assumed it was a family-type, fried-seafood place. And it was. But it was ...

This restaurant was recommended by a local and I am very sorry we went. The table was dirty, and we had to sit outside because they would not let us sit (with our kids) inside ... well, except for this plastic bubbled room! There were only TWO kids ...

I am glad to say that I have been to Hurricane Patty's over the last 3 years and have see it go from good to bad to really bad and then jump up to great. I recently visited one of my favorite restaurants and was happily greeted and quickly served. My food was fresh and tasted wonderful. The once rude staff has been replaced with happy and helpful workers, willing to do anything you ask of them. The bland food has seemed to disapear and been replaced with amazing food. I would suggest to those that have a a handful of bad experiences to go back and try it once again. I think you are in for a sweet surprise.

Hurricane Patty's was once the happening spot in St. A. It is now a dive. Health Department had to shut it down and now that it is re-opened. You have really poor service and food that is not that great. They run out of product a lot and lately the draft has been down so we are expected to pay premium for bottle beer? What is up with the new owners and their attitudes? Not the same local friendly hangout anymore.

Giving this Restaurant/Bar one star at this point is one star to many. We have been regulars of this establishment for over 7 years. Loved the place. Then it was SOLD. Upside, we figured it will get cleaned up and some new food on the menu... LOL this is what you get now... And I am not LYING!!! Be mindful we are well established regulars coming to hear the best musicians in town... Those Guys, Lickin Gravy and Alex Austin... We never get greeted anymore, to order you have to chase a server down, when you get to order they are 9 times out of 10 out of what you’re ordering and when you get the food... help me even the coleslaw is not edible anymore. Well if you complain to the new owner "Mary" this is what you get...I will make this easy for you... Here is the conversation you make up your mind how to take it.. Me: "Mary, This is (I gave my name); I come to the restaurant not less than once a week, most times more to hear the music etc... Just wanted to let you know the service over the last couple of months has been bad... Took an hour for someone to bring me a glass of tea last night and then I had to go for my own refill twice. Some of my friends that drove from Jacksonville left because they sat for twenty minutes and no one came and offered to get them menus or drinks. This is getting pretty bad and I thought you should know. Mary: the computers are broken thats what the problem was. We are down to one computer. See the guy is here trying to fix it right now... (Garble from the guy who answered the phone and gave it to Mary when I called) Me: "Mary a computer problem doesn't keep a server from coming to your table. We had no service and have had very little for two months now. I don't know what is going on but one of the regulars had a $45.00 Beer Tab last night and this was happy hour, this is not just a computer issue. Mary: No it’s the computer. And the steam line caused the draft beer to go down and that is why his tab was so high. (This is the second time in one month the draft beer has been down) Me:"Well Mary obviously you are not hearing me or you don't care that what I am telling you. These problems are not computer related and they are on going for over two months so I will need to rethink whether I frequent your establishment in the future. I just thought you should know what is going on and being said about the restaurant since I have been a regular for many years. This was Mary's final response to me "Ok Fine Whatever and Click"... Mary hung up on me. Mary is one of the new owners of Hurricane Patty’s and to give them credit since the Health Department forced them to clean they have made the place look nice but the service is a FLAT Zero and if it were not for the musicians and their regular followers I don't think Hurricane Patty’s would make it. I am sorry to all my FAV Musicians but I don't spend my money in an establishment where the OWNER is that irresponsible with the patron. I expect that behavior from an employee who does not have a vested interest in the financial survival or growth of a business not from an owner. Hurricane Patty’s in my book you are now a dive, Your food is worse than ever, the service is a zero and the new owner...Well SJRCC offers Business Classes maybe they should consider taking some in hospitality and etiquette. You don't bite the hand that feeds you. Word of Mouth spreads faster than any advertisement campaign. But hey, don't trust my review, go check them out for yourself and either challenge my review or concur with my findings... Either way, Hurricane Patty’s lost about $100.00 a week from my small group. But hey that is chump change to them obviously.
