I had a dinner party for my family on the occassion of my son graduating from the RCMP Depot. Our expectations for this restaurant was high. My initial impression of the facility was good . the decor and ambience were actually 5 star. The five star rating decreased as soon as the service began and our food was served. I have to admit that the service for my 5 year old grandson was excellent, our server brought out his food very quickly. I was very disappointed when my 2 sons were served their t-bone steaks. They were indicated on the menu that they were 8oz. steaks. If the steaks they were served were 4 oz steaks I would be surprised. The presentation of the steaks on their plates was less than appealing. My older son's steak was over done and had to be sent back. When he was re-served with a new plate that steak was under done. If this restaurant is advertising itself as the premier steak house in Regina I would have expected the steaks to be done as ordered and not served as a piece of charcoal burnt meat. I noticed that there was a table adjacent to our's that had a party of 16 or 17 guests. The waite staff at our table were polite but seemed to be rushed. Also I have been to other 5 star rated restaurants around the world and I have never had my table cleared at the table by the waiter stacking and scrapping dishes in front of the guests. Maybe I am being too hard on this establishement but I didn't see them discounting their 5 star food and beverage charges to a 3 star tariff which is what I would rate the overall dining experience. It is not good enough to be serving most of the table acceptably while the rest of the guests are being served less than advertised. I am a trained hotlier with a degee in hotel and restaurant management.so I know what 5 star service and food are suppose to be.This restaurants management needs to train their staff better and the quality control for the food leaving the kitchen needs to be sharpened up. When I spend in excess of $ 400.00 for a family meal I expect that "5 star" establishement to meet my total dining expectations.

Golf's has always been our favorite restaurant. We have travelled the world, including Paris, London, and San Francisco, and haven't found better food or better value anywhere. For those reviewers complaining about the price, you need to get out more. Food at Golf's is much tastier and no more expensive than any of the chain restaurants that offer the same fare. If you are a big fan of MacDonald's, you probably shouldn't be going to Golf's.

We found Golf's to be very expensive for the food we received. Our waiter was good, not excellent. The arm of my chair popped off whenever I tried to shift the chair. The food was ok,but not worth the high price. DO NOT order the cheese toast! It has to be the worst I've ever had. It was the only cheese on it was powdered parmesan cheese. If I'm paying such high prices I'd at least expect to get real cheese. I would agree with the comment about the Keg. It has much nicer food and is a bit cheaper.

For the price (they are outrageously expensive), this place should be a heck of a lot better. Service was substandard (as several people have already pointed out) and the food is average at best. I also found it rather annoying after receiving poor service and below average food that they automatically included a 15% gratuity on our bill. This practice is completely unacceptable. If the quality of the food and service had been up to par, perhaps but given it was poor, I had a hard time being told we had to tip.

I wont be back nor will anybody else who was in our party. The Keg,Moxie's and a host of other better run restaurants would be a better place to go.

After reading the already posted reviews I noticed that it is not only our experience that has been terrible. The food is sub-par and the for a steak house, the meat was over cooked. I couldn't tell if it was fresh or not because it was just so terribly prepared. The decor is outdated and they have a fireplace in the middle which was nice but could be found at any other steakhouse.

To address the positive rated review below, even though you are (from your description) an older couple I don't believe you have a seasoned palate. Judging by the fact that you actually enjoy Golf's and still dine at Red Lobster. Also, Golf's was not packed, I counted 5 tables.

Overall bad experience at Golf's Steakhouse in Regina. Would not return.

We have always loved dining at Golf's. We went there for our first date October 21, 1972, and have continued going there for every May 19th Wedding Anniversary since. Only once has the food not been great, but the service has always been impeccable. I agree that the tables feel cramped together, but if you owned a restaurant that was booked solid each and every night, would you not put in a few more tables? The last reviewer mentioned being seated by the door. For the life of me, I cannot imagine where that would be, as I do not know of any tables anywhere near the front door. Also, if you're in Golf's or any other restaurant and are unhappy with your table, ask to be moved. We did just that last week at the Red Lobster, and there was no problem. Also, if your food is not great, send it back. We did that last week at the Red Lobster. If your service isn't great, talk to the Manager and ask for another server. We did not do that last week at the Red Lobster, even though we were welcomed with the phrase that I most hate "So, how are you GUYS this evening? then "What can I get you GUYS to drink?" Drives me crazy! To make a long review longer I just want to say that Golf's is the favourite of almost all our friends and family. It is a special night when we dine there.

We dine out often and have been too many different restaurants in North America. Golf's Steak House in Regina was unfortunately a disappointment. Service and wait time was good and we had no complaints towards waiters, they were kind and always around for assistance. The food was by far the worst part of the dining experience.

The entrees were not the best and could be refined, the house or tossed salad was just iceberg lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers.

For the main course, the meat was overcooked and dry. Not much taste, no seasoning on meats or vegetables. Vegetables were baby carrots and broccoli, nothing special which we found odd for an "upper class" restaurant. You have many options for sides one of which is linguine that comes standard with no sauce or garnish, you must specially order for sauce and they only have Alfredo. Another option was the baked potato on presenting the baked potato a waiter dresses it right in front of you, in other upper class restaurants this is done in the kitchen and your desired garnish is picked upon ordering.

No complaints about the dessert.

The conclusion, we wouldn't go back, the cost of the food for the quality we received is definitely not worth it.

I have always heard such great things about Golf's actually had good experiences in the past, I have no idea what has happened to the place. The service is terrible, our favourite servers have left & the servers they have now, mind you there are the ones that have always been there that you just would prefer not to be served by for they have no idea what they are doing and could care less if you had a memorable experience or not. They are rude and pushy, rushing you through your dinner... The quality of food has definately gone downhill with wilted or overdone vegetables and tough steak and with this the prices have gone up. Nevermind that customers are so crammed in there that you are tripping over one another, instead of being seated comfortably you are basically sitting in your neighbours lap. I cannot forget to mention the dust that is on all the pictures and lights, it is so stuffy in there someone with lung problems would have to leave. Truly disappointed in what has happened to what once was a great restaurant, I would not recommend to friends, family or clients, or visitors. Maybe if a little thought went back into it, I would consider going back but until then, I will eat at another Steakhouse.

Food was no more special than that found at the Keg or other steak restaurants. We were seated next the door which in the wintertime can get quite chilly. Poor spot to seat paying customers. Waited 1 hour and 40 minutes to get our food due to two large tables who ordered ahead of us (still 1hr, 40 min is excessive). No apologies were made and the food when finally served was lukewarm. Talked to the manager and she just tried to talk herself out of it with no apologies. Asked us to "give them a second try and come see her during our visit"...like she would remember us. There were 3 people ahead of us who also complained with no satisfaction from the manager. The manager did a poor job of customer relations that night. Wouldn't recommend Golf's Steak House to anyone.
