Appleton Restaurant Guide

We went on a Friday night. Their menu bar said 'limited' salad bar...well lettuce only with tomatoes and dressing was it! We spent $20 on a steak and it was a waste of $$$! Our waitress was wonderful, but what we paid for our entrees and after we saw the salad bar, this meal was far from acceptable. That was our first and last visit.

I just ate there with a friend Sunday. It was packed, but service was prompt. I don't know about fish or chicken, but the Prime Rib was perfect! Defininitely great steaks.

Food was great, staff was friendly, overall - great experience! We had to wait for a while at the bar, but that was just part of the experience... I would recommend!

Took my girlfriend out to dinner at Dick and Joan's last weekend, it was our first time there, my dad recommended it (he has been going for years). We each had awesome old fashions, got our order put in at the bar and got a table a half hour later. My date got a tenderloin and lobster special and I got prime rib and both dinners were fantastic. The price was very reasonable and we were very happy with the entire experience. The bartenders were laughing behind the bar with customers while giving great service, the waitress was awesome and very efficient. We will be back!

WOW! We have been coming to Dick and Joan's for years and we are always impressed with our experience... and yet we are amazed again by the amount of food we got, how delicious it was, and how affordable it was. We sat at table 8 and had a tenderloin for two, it came with two kinds of potatoes, some onion rings, and sauteed mushrooms. It was by far the best steak I have ever had, we always order it medium-rare and it was perfect. As always, Great Job Dick and Joans!!!

Just had dinner there, ordered tenderloin for two medium well when we got it the tenderloin was WELL done we tried it and it tasted rancide so my wife spit it out in a napkin when the waitstaff came to the table we told her and she took it back to make another one. When we received the new one it was 3/4 of an inch thick and very chewy so we told the waitstaff and she said that they pound it down to get it more tender that is why a tenderloin is so thin and to make it more tender. When we went to pay the bill the bartender asked how everything was and we told her and she said thats to bad and took our money. When we were leaving there was a gentleman standing by the bar and I asked him if he was an owner because my wife knew Pat as the owner and he said yes so i told him and he said thats to bad and that they don't beat on their meat to tenderise it. A tenderloin 3/4 inch thick for $31.45 are ya nuts.

Every time we get to Appleton we make it a point to have dinner at Dick & Joan's. Love the tenderloin. Staff is extremly friendly and efficient. Prices are very reasonable.

Had dinner there this past Friday. They were super busy, but seemed to move us right along. The bartenders were friendly and helpful on how the procedure is. We had about a 45 min. wait. The food was unbelievable good. Was told about the perch and my friends were right. I will definitely go back there and tell others about it.

Went to this restaurant in February with a group of people & the person who plans our outings always calls ahead to make sure they will have room for us. We were so squashed together we could hardly move our arms. Bartenders & wait staff very unfriendly & cost of lunch is expensive seeing you only I only got a sandwich & chips. Atmosphere is old & outdated & group behind us were very loud & after the meal, continued to stay at the tables & played dominoes. Will never go here again!

My fiance & I are big fans of this Supper Club! It is the Old Fashioned Club with Great food & Great Service. However, went there for a nice dinner for Valentines Day & his Birthday & had a Great Dinner but the very worst service we have ever had!
Our waitress was terrible! Not only did she never check to see is our dinner was OK, when we asked her for more warm bread she & I quote told us "If I get time I will put some in the oven" We were there on Wednesday the Day after Valentines Day and they were not busy!
Being in the Food Service business my whole life thank God I never worked with her and if I was the owner she wouldn't work for me!
Food was fantastic! Bartenders Pat & Allie were great! But when you spend $65 for a nice dinner you should get decent service also!

Steaks come with a seasoning that can be a bit overwhelming. Friday night salad bar is weak, Saturday is ok

Another wonderful experience at a local supper club! We can't say enough about the great food and staff at Dick & Joan's. We went just for a steak dinner out (Sirloin,Tenderloin & Crab) and everything about it was perfect!
It is the Old Fashioned Family Supper Club that we are very happy to still have in our community!!! Love it & will be enjoying & celebrating Mother's Day with all of you there!!!

Absolutely WONDERFUL super club experience! Dick and Joans is the best place in the Valley to get amazing fish frys on friday!! Their Clam Chowder is the BEST soup I have ever tasted in my LIFE!!! And besides the food, the bartenders and waitstaff are such friendly people! Keep up the good work guys n' gals!

I took my in-laws out for a "supper club" experience last week and we ended up at Dick & Joan's as first time patrons. The meal was delicious, the waitress (Tabitha) and the kitchen staff were very friendly and professional and our experience was positive. I recommend the tenderloin and broiled shrimp, it was heavenly. My father-in-law liked his frog legs just as much. The only improvement we would of liked to have seen was a more upbeat and personable bartender, but I guess you can't ask for it all. We will be back!!

Once again a perfect dinner at Dick & Joan"s! Our comments to this experience were that our waitress was friendly but didn't seem to concerned with how we were doing & the portion of Crab (I had Crab/Tenderloin Combo) could have had a larger portion of Crab. Overall, The Best!We came home very satisfied and will be back!

Dick & Joans has the best Sirloin Steak in the whole Fox Valley! Being a chef and working in some of the finest establishments in Door County I have found that the food,service,price and atmosphere is amazing! Every year we receive a gift certificate for dinner from my mother for Christmas and once again we chose Dick & Joan's! Kepp up the good work! See you soon!!

The best food in the valley. Love the hot bacon dressing and husband loves the garlic toast. Never had a bad meal here ever! Great drinks too. We normally ask for a waitress right as we order our first drink so we are assured a table when ready to eat, otherwise you will be at the bar quite a while! Wouldn't change a thing!!

A step back in time - like 40 years! The decor was the first que that this was very outdated, basing popularity on reputation alone. Many came in after us, were seated first, even though we voiced 3 times that we were ready to order. As we were looking at other dining options for the night, a server finally came. Bartenders, rude and aloof, and the general atmosphere was like a place my parents took me in the late 60's.

We go to Dick and Joans often, very rare is a dinner not great. We have to ask for a waitress as some wear WAY to much perfume. (always hope the few overscented aren't waiting the table next to us)
Fresh bread, still warm makes every dinner great.
Hot bacon dressing, yum.
We aren't a fan of the small cove behind salad bar, but know of others who love it!

hungry now, think we will go for Friday fish...if we decide on a steak instead they will have that too.

we go to dick and joans every sunday and carol is our waitress and she goes above and beyond to make sure we get the best service and best food in town.....cant say this about any other restaurant in appleton/greenbay area

Great place for lunch. Always great food. Never, ever been unhappy. So much better then all the chain restaurants.

Excellent food all the time. I wish there were onions on the Friday limited salad bar. Onions would be better then the pink out of season tomatoes.

Very disappointed. My fiance and I went here last weekend to try something different. The bartender was very rude and unfriendly. We asked if we could sit at the bar and look over menus until a waitress was ready. She grumbled that that was fine. We got a drink, which wasn't exactly as ordered, then we were ignored for ~45 minutes. Customers that came in and sat at the bar after us kept getting served, it was like we were invisible! We asked for a waitress again, and a "nicer" bartender said she would try to get one for us. A waitress shortly came out but again asked the people next to us for their order and ignored us! We gave up after about an hour and went home :( Never got to try the food. I wasn't too impressed with the menu to begin with as it was a Friday and apparently there are many items the don't serve on Fridays.

A must-stop when in Appleton. the food and sweet brady old fashions are the greatest. Keep up the great job!

A group of us from Milwaukee stop there every time we stay in Appleton for a Packer game. The food is a great value and the staff is fantastic. I highly recommend it to anyone passing through Appleton

Best liver and onions around!!

The food is the best around. The hot bacon german salad dressing is a must try. Great value. I live 150 miles away, but still eat there everytime I am in town!

This restaurant has been my husband and my favorite for about 10 years. The service is always great and so is the food. My only gripe I hoped they would have changed by now is to have a kids menu.

Food has always been pretty good, some items better than others. Seafoods pretty good. Salmon patties medium.

Overall it was good, but the Clam Chowder was a great disappointment.
Great bar atmoshpere.
