City Fare's not just a caterer, it's my favorite Hartford restaurant! Don't be fooled by the outside; it looks a bit like a garage, but once inside, there's original art on the walls and you're surrounded by wonderful food and sophisticated crowd that appreciates fine lunch fare. Standard offerings include sandwiches, salads, soups, but there are more substantial daily specials. Believe me, the standard offerings are NOT standard fare -- the food's fresh, delicious, and artfully arranged. My favorite sandwiches include veggie on foccaccia (they make their own), grilled lamb with radiccio, and fresh mozarella with roasted red peppers and tapenade. Salads are beautiful to look at and unusual works of art that taste as good as they look. Try noodle with grilled steak (Asian-inspired), antipasto, or the balsamic dresseed salad with barbecud lamb. For that matter you could probably try anything here and be very happy. My only complaint? They close at 6 p.m.

Southeast Asian, Deli/Sandwich/Subs, Fast Food
Good comfort food in large portions. Veal dish was very good but the shrimp dish seemed a bit overdone. Sausage and peppers were fine. Service was attentive, prompt, and pleasant.
Southeast Asian, Deli/Sandwich/Subs, Fast Food
Ordered veal Parm very bland no flavor. The appetizer (escargot) much better than meals.
