Now I realize I can get arguments about my 5 star rating, but here's why.
It has been open almost 70 years, doing the same thing in the same location. You see lines out the door often, but very little waiting.
There is an old time atmosphere, the kind of place you wear shorts and flip flops to. The waitresses call you "Sugar" and "Honey", and the food, with the exception of the Chicken is served family style, which means unending bowls of Sweet Creamed Peas, Mashed Potatoes, the best french fries you ever had...(ask them to cook them crispy for you, they come out hot as hell, and you dip them in the bowl of gravy!)...and the Chicken...
And the Chicken! The best fried chicken I've ever had, anywhere. Period!
I understand the owner is present every single minute it's open and you can see why that matters. Very fast service, and consistent food.
Take my advice, it's a must visit place if you are ever in Jacksonville.
By the way, they do a booming take out business as well.
I also want to point out that even though I may sound like it's too good to be true...and that I must be the owner myself, suffice it to say, that I'm just a 52 year old, who has been eating there since I was 8!

We grew up at the beach and never miss a chance to eat at Beach Road Chicken when we are home visiting. A "don't miss" eating place where you can come as you are. Make sure to call to make sure they are open before going.

Since my family has been dining at Beach Road Chicken since 1956, I would like to confirm that when we visit Florida, it is the ONLY place that we will go to eat!

Beach Road Chicken Dinners, on what my mother and father called "The Old Beach Road", has been around since the late 1930s. I have been going there since 1969, and, after 35 years of experience with this divine old fashioned family restaurant, I still say that there is no finer or truer fried chicken in the world. Also, the cole slaw is fabulous, the biscuits light, and the creamed peas, well, they are an institution in and of themselves.

And the price is right, believe me!

You want home style chicken, southern fried yardbird, whatever you call it, this is the place to get it! A little piece of history & good ol' fashion cookin'. Come rub elbows with the locals, or get it to go. The best place for chicken and their biscuits aren't bad either. Been my family's favorite for nearly 50 years.

Fried chicken, creme peas, french fried potatoes, biscuts to die for! $5.75 gets all you can eat! Nothing fancy but great food. My family has been eating at Beach Road Chicken for 35 years. Never a bad meal.

For fried chicken, it is the best bar none. I was first introduced to BRC back in the 70ies and still find myself walking out of the restaurant in awe after a meal at BRC. BRC is always on my list of restaurants to eat while visiting the Deuerlings in Jacksonville.

I love to go to Beach Road...although most people just order their meal to-go, there is something about the crammed atmosphere of sitting in this little, locally aged restaurant that gives me a charming, nostalgic feeling. My grandparents can remember a time when what is now Atlantic Boulevard was the only road with access to the beach, and each time we go, I get to hear neat little stories of their memories of this dear little place from decades ago. Everything about this place makes you feel like you're living in 1950 - from the red and yellow retro atmosphere to the good ol' fried chicken recipe to the old fashioned waitress' uniforms. I also love the newspaper reviews and pictures of Beach Road Past which make up most of the decor. It's a real favorite.
