Restaurant Description

Overlooking the Woodrow Wilson Plaza, Aria is an Italian trattoria-style restaurant offering open air café dining or indoor seating in an elegantly appointed Italianate setting. This casual, neighborhood trattoria features a breakfast menu, a lunch menu that includes a buffet of savory antipasti, and both lunch and dinner selections of homemade pastas, panini sandwiches and hearth oven-baked pizzas. Aria dishes up quality, traditional Italian fare at affordable prices.

a diner from NW Washington, DC
Dined at Aria in June of 2006 with three other friends.
Kitchen: Sloppy. Three of four orders had to be sent back to kichen for various reasons: a chicken/artichoke salad with no chicken; another chicken/artichoke salad w/ no artichokes; an overcooked steak. Next, two of the three new meals had to go back for similar reasons. Everything took a long time.
Food: the chicken was dry, a medium-rare steak was overcooked-- twice. The steak salad was pretty good.
Service: our server was unfriendly, and at times, inefficient. The waiter serving the next table was very nice.
Management: Young, seemingly inexperienced, defensive and unresponsive. Charged us for uneaten, overcooked steak.
Drinks: house wine was pretty good, and reasonably priced.

Got food poisoning on Feb 17 2007. Owner is a rude uneducated person...Wants no accountability.

We look forward to returning to this quiet gem! Selected for its proximity to the National Zoo, we would return simply to enjoy the food and atmosphere. All this at a reasonable price -- a rare combination in D.C.
