I have been many times over the last few years, with groups for meetings and also dinner with friends and even the Easter Buffet. The food has always been great (the fried chicken is my favorite in town), the service has always been friendly and polite. We recommend it to friends all the time!

Thank you Springfield. We just celebrated our five year anniversary on March 10, 2009. It was gratifying that so many of our customers came to congratulate us and tell us how much they enjoy our restaurant. We have enjoyed these last five years immensely and take great pleasure in serving Springfield. We are looking forward to being in business for the next five years and beyond.

In response to the owner's comment of 2/06-

What you posted below is not true. I never said "I can't believe you're out of f---ing sausage". I never called you a "m---er f---er", or any other names for that matter. None of what you claim below ever happened, and we both know it.

For the benefit of others here, I simply asked if that item was still on the menu, based on the fact that you had been out the last several times we visited. You became upset, denied that you had ever been out before, and then "apologized" by kicking out our entire party.

Perhaps instead of just making up stories and posting them with 5 stars, you should actually read the reviews here and try to figure out why all these people give you the lowest possible rating and say they're never coming back.

In other news, your sausage links are awful. You might want to experiment with turning or flipping them at some point during the cooking process.

My family and I go to Amber Jacks all the time, especially after church on Saturday nights. We love it. The food is absolutely delicious, the ribs are the best I have ever tasted. The grandkids go with us sometimes and would rather go there than anywhere else. We even went there on Christmas Eve last year, before 3:30 church service and everyone was great. The service is wonderful. We highly recommend this restaurant.

My husband and I ate there only after driving around for an hour to find something due to it being a Friday evening. We were not greeted and when we were finally noticed it felt like we were inconveniencing them to be there. The service was slow and often we had to repeat our requests. The steak was terrible. Thank goodness for A1. The two good things we had we owe a thank you to Hidden Valley and Miller Lite. We will not return.

The customers writing about being out of sausage were asked to leave because he said to the owner "I can't believe you are out of f---ing sausage, you m---er f---er." This was the customer’s response to the owner’s apology for not having sausage patties. We were still able to offer sausage links, ham, and bacon as a meat item with breakfast. Unfortunately, due to a very busy weekend for breakfasts on both Saturday and Sunday, we ran out of sausage patties during the last hour of breakfast (between noon and 1 pm) on that particular Sunday. Our breakfast business has been increasing, and we are now stocking more of our breakfast items.

Ditto to what everybody else is saying. The food is generally edible.. The service is a crapshoot.. The hostess and the owner have absolutely no business doing anything that involves dealing with the public. We got kicked out for asking why they're always out of stuff on their menu. We'll be visiting either Sgt Pepper's or the Hen House in the future. The food is better, and the staff is sane.

Went there Sunday morning (Dec 28) for breakfast for the 2nd time in a couple of months. For the 2nd time they were out of sausage patties (and it was well before they were to stop serving breakfast). 2 people in our party were set on having sausage patties that morning for breakfast and so we decided to go, but not before having a word with the owner. He argued that they've never run out of anything before, this was a first (an outright lie) and told us to get out. So we did. Won't be back, wish I'd come here to activediner first. I'm telling everyone I know to avoid this place like the plague. The hostess wasn't there that morning, and I wasn't aware that the nasty one was married to the owner...that explains a lot. I wish Ryans would come back to this location (and I'm not a big fan of Ryans).

Our group went in with reservations, the owner seated us a two separate tables - there were very few other people in there, so we moved the tables together - The lady owner came unglued! Started yelling at us about moving her tables around - who gave you authority to move those tables? Those are my tables! When one of the group asked about substitutions on the menu, she yelled, No substitutions, you have a menu in your hand, can't you read? If some of our group hadn't already been waited on and was starting to get their meals, we would have all gotten up and left - she slammed plates down in front of some of the group - very nasty attitude and bitchy the whole time. I can't believe she gets on here and lies about the truthful comments others make about her aberrant behavior and poor attitude toward her customers. Needless to say, our group as a whole will never be back and neither will any of us with our families. This woman needs professional psychiatric help in my opinion.

Had a great dining experience on 07/24. With a group of 18.This is a good family type restaurant. No frills, just good food and service. They had a full house, and looked like everyone was having a good time. We were not rushed, and everyone in our group was well satisfied. Food was moderatly priced , and very good. No long wait for food service

I see the owner of the establishment is on here claiming that these anonymous people who complain are lying. My name is Bill Brooks, I was called an A**hole by her as I walked out the door - after complaining, civilly, that she had seated another couple in front of my wife and I after giving her out names less than 5 minutes previous. After seating the other couple, she left the front door area and then after a few minutes, said "hello" like she hadn't seen us before - when she finally came back over to seat us, I told her take our name off the list, we'd go somewhere else. She said "sorry you don't like the clientele." I told her it wasn't the clientele, it was the poor service, that's when she loudly called me an A**hole in front of her clientele. Now call me a liar.... Apparently she has the reputation of throwing people out at her current establishment and also at her previous one, The Barrel Head, as evidenced on several other blogs and forums, where she has also put in her two cents claiming once again that all these people are liars. They're not, she is.

We started going here earlier this year - food is average - service is average - nothing spectacular or unique on the menu - just a place to eat - until - twice now, we've been shorted on side orders with our dinners and then tonight, the place was busy and there were 2 couples waiting to be seated, and 1 couple came in behind us - we were patient - the lady, whom I assume is the owner, seated the first 2 couples, then seated the other couple and then acted like we had just came in - when I said something to her about not liking having people seated first that came in behind us - she said sorry you don't like our customers. I told her had nothing to do with the customers, just the service. As my wife and I walked out the door, she called me an "@$$hole" - loud enough other patrons heard it, and I heard it plainly - needless to say - we won't be back in that dive again.

Our food was ok, but a little pricey for the low quality. But while dining here I truely felt awful for the gal waiting on us, that owner really is horrible to her employees. I ended up spending more than I intended when I gave the waitress a nice sympathy tip.

Worst Mothers Day ever!!!!! Went for Brunch had a reservation. My party and I were treated as if we were inconviencing the hostess (Later to find out she was the owner) The food smelled good but for the price, Hometown Buffet would have been equal in value. Bland and moderately warm describes the overall quality and the constant nasally barking of the owner only diminshed the whole experience. We were really looking for a laid back, pleasant Mother's Day meal, this wasn't it. My sister actually overheard the owner tell a server "get em in get em fed and get em out" Wow for almost $20 per person that is not the attitude I would expect.

As the owner of Amber Jack Alehouse, I can no longer refrain from responding to these outrageous accusations that have been written about me. These reviews are so inaccurate that the only way I can identify the complaint is by the date. We work very hard to provide good service, and we take great pride in the meals that we serve. Our customers repeatedly make a point to let us know what a great dinner experience they had. It saddens me that people use the internet anonymously to embellish, and even lie, about an experience without the need to show proof of the actual events.

The food was fairly good for the price but adding $.45 for a Caesar salad (as opposed to a house salad) is pretty ridiculous considering the difference between the two.
In the future I would call ahead to see if the VERY rude hostess was working. Someone mentioned that she was one of the owners...if so, I don't know how they stay in business. I have NEVER met a more opinionated, loud, self-centered, ill-mannered person in the service industry ANYWHERE.If I were to walk in the door and see her there again, I would promptly turn around and leave, she was that obnoxious. She must be a very unhappy person and needs to find a different way to make a living!!!!!

The food is not bad. A decent value for the money. The problem is with the owner. I've never had such a horrible experience dining out. I had the unfortunate experience of dining there yesterday and witnessed the owner (perhaps manager?....a large woman with a loud mouth -definately in charge) get into a verbal argument with a customer. (What happened to "the customer is always right"?) Her foul, loud mouth made me and every customer in the place cringe. Her language was more suited to a biker bar! It was a horrible experience and I will never eat there again.

Amber Jack Alehouse is not a very clean place. I went for breakfast and when I opened the catsup to put on my eggs, little ants fell on my hashbrowns. I only got an apology from the waiter, not the owner who was there. Catsup should be kept in the refrigerator during the night, not on the tables. Nasty restaurant.

I am sputtering. This place defies description. I don't believe there are any bad enough words in the English language to describe their customer service. I really don't understand why they are still in business, or why anyone would ever go back there, after being kicked around by the owners. I have never been treated so badly in my life! I came there, just wanting to be seated and to be served a meal, and then to pay my money. Instead, I got verbal abuse and nasty language from the female owner. (I won't name any names here, but she's more like a snarling alley cat than a purring kitten!) She actually chased me and members of my party into the parking lot, uttering insane, bizarre threats. We basically had to run for our lives! Another customer came out and told us that this is a routine occurrence at the restaurant, that she saw the female owner throw a WHOLE CHURCH GROUP out the other day! Also an elderly friend of my mom showed up recently with another friend at 10 minutes to 4. (They were expecting a party of nine.) They asked the female owner if they could come inside out of the cold to sit down and wait for their friends. The owner replied, "No, you can't. We don't open until 4 o' clock. Get out." When one of the elderly women remonstrated, the female owner's husband (also an owner) appeared at the door and yelled at these two helpless older women: "You can't talk to my wife that way! Get out of here and never come back!" Unbelievable! This same husband told me and my friends: "I don't think I want to serve you! Get out of here!" just because one of my friends questioned his wife's frequent tantrums and use of the F-word while we were waiting to be seated. Female owner's response to my friend's complaint: "Yes, I admit I said 'F--- it!' I'll say it again! F--- it! F--- it!! F--- it!" I have heard that the food here is okay, but I wouldn't know, since I'm now one of the growing throngs in Springfield who are members of the "KICKED OUT BY KITTY" club. Come here ONLY if you're a masochist--you'll get tons of free insults when you step inside this Hell. But don't expect to actually EAT here; you'll likely get tossed out on your ear before you're seated.

Bizarre! Kitty, the Hostess with the Mostess Attitude, created a nightmare experience! Within seconds of crossing the Threshhold into Hell, we all felt her wrath. She stated 5 times that we didn't have reservations. Several times she insisted that a group of 3 standing behind us were with us and that we would have to wait for a larger table. We kept stating that they weren't with us. She insisted they were. We split our group to get seating sooner. While part of our group was seated, she continued to inflict her razor-sharp attitude, making it apparent that WE wouldn't be seated. She turned away when we questioned her. We asked for the owner. She screeched, "How would you like it if someone wanted to talk to your husband?". She told us, "F--- it!" and threw menus. I said, "That's not professional." She screeched, "Neither are you!" She returned many times, repeating her earlier comments to us. We didn't budge until the owner came. He wasn't willing to hear anything. He talked over us. We said, "We thought you'd want to know." He ordered us to leave! When 1 of the seated friends walked to the front to ask what happened,he was kicked out! Later, Kitty, apparently still sharpening her claws, opened the outside door to yell, "You need to pay your bill! You're not getting away with this! I have a business to run! I'm going to split it between the people at your table!" She screamed insults as we went to our cars. We learned later that a waiter came to the table to cancel our friend's order, so there was no "unpaid bill"! (Kitty=Liar) Outside a customer told us she'd seen a ladies' church group kicked out and many other "Kitty situations." P.S. We went to DARCY'S -GREAT FOOD & SERVICE! They said they hear Kitty stories often. So, Kitty, if you say you have a business to run INTO THE GROUND, you're doing a good job of it!

I eat at Amber Jacks on a regular basis. They have great steaks!! I have never had a bad meal there. I have had salads, sandwiches such as a Reuben, appetizers like crab cakes and godiva chocolate martini's. They have great draft beers including a seasonal Sam Adams. They will substitute one side for another with no questions. Once I took a friend in a wheelchair and they were helpful but not odd in providing her service. Only once have I had a long wait for food. That was a holiday lunch when they had several table of over 20.

this restaurant took 55 min to serve food to 4 adults and 2 children. When complained to the OWNER she seen no problems with it. She told us if we wanted faster food we need to go to McDonald cause thier food sits under warmers. Then when we stated we could have went to the Cracker Barrel and got our food and ate it quicker than this she stated that they cook all their food in microwaves. she was rude and had everything bad to say about every other restaurant. do not go here you will regret it.
