It's really a shame about Yamazushi, the food is really good, but the place absolutely stinks. We arrived there early one night, before the cooking had begun, evidently, so the actual smell of the place was apparent, and it just smelled like raw sewage. Considering the product, raw fish, that doesn't bode well. Healthy and safe sushi requires a spotless environment, clearly that is not the case here.

On previous visits we really enjoyed the food, but evidently the smell was masked by kitchen activity. The smell was actually so bad that it seemed to linger in my memory for days afterward.

When we mentioned the smell to the sushi chef, who is probably the owner, he just stared at us. He's never been friendly, but he seemed almost hostile.

Also, the turnover in wait staff is constant, so it's the luck of the draw, but it's never been very good.

We were once regulars, but after the odor experience, we will never go back. I honestly think they will have to burn the place down to get rid of that smell. The staff at the pub next door were very familiar with the problem, also.

You wouldn't expect to find a bowl of PHO at a Japanese restaurant let along a good one. I was surprised to see it but curiosity peaked up and convinced me to try it. I must say it was a about average bowl of PHO. I was impressed with the flavor espe ...

Great food. Half off all sushi. Fresh, and the wait staff was alert to every detail. I will be back for more.

This is my wife's and my favorite sushi spot in the Triangle. We will only go to another sushi restaurant if we are out of town. They know us by name, give us great service, and, most importantly, the sushi is fresh and 1/2 off. LOVE AKASHI!
